One can't replace the addition that a quality leader brings to a positional group from someone like Wagner, who perservered top shelf and has the bones to show for it. He has been a dominant part of Championship. The Cowboys have very little of that experience laden quality.

This group of linebackers are very important in the progress of Dallas.

The linebackers are the group that brings together the defensive line and the secondary. It controls the center of the field and funnels things towards the sidelines. With good defensive ends and corners, the field is harder for opponents to work and be successful.

Bobby Wagner was forged in fire, and would set the forge for this unit to come out steel...'forged in fire.'

Myself, I would pay his price for my team to come out a dynasty strong!

But my plans wouldn't stop there...next the draft.

My first target would be Clemson LB Trenton Simpson 6'2" 235 4.43

Similar to Parsons, he has unusual speed and similar athleticism. Having a pair of linebackers with the talent of Parsons, would expand how teams would have to continually guard against that unusually aggressive element. This would also make stability a youthful element in this positional group. How does a linebacker group of: Wagner, Parsons, Simpson, Leighton VanderEsch, with Damone Clark and Jabril Clark competing for slots in camp.

It is easy to project special packages that would both be dominant as well as dangerous to go against. Special teams would be elevated by this assembled group, also.

A cost effective group would look strong to Stephen Jones, and Jerry could just smile!

These two moves would look great on the field immediately and project strongly towards cap management, also.
Be careful rating timed speed with the linebacker position, it's a position that requires high level instincts. Bruce Carter was a prime example of that.

Look at film already accumulated on this youthful player...before proclaiming a doubter stance.

THESE PLAYERS DON'T WANT TO SIGN NOW DUE TO TRAINING CAMP/MINICAMPS ETC, they don't want to be apart of that!
Bobby Wagner will be in somebody’s training camp. Stop this nonsense. Joke of a take.

I don’t think camp is near the issue that offers is. The market has really dropped and many of these guys will wait for an injury, a team that still has a need after the draft, or an injury happens. There may be a few guys who rather not go to camp but I doubt Wagner is one of them. If he got the offer he wants he’d be happy to go to camp
Update: 7 mil and he’s going to camp lol

...and yet that same defense held SF to 1 TD and 19 points (6 of which came off Dallas offensive turnovers) but the Dallas offense could only muster 12 points....so play the what if game all you want but the fact is Dallas had a chance to get to the NFC Championship game if not for the offense.
The same 49ers defense that was arguably the best in the NFL last season? In San Francisco nonetheless? Stop the cap.

Dak didn’t play great, but he had limited options on offense. Only one true legit wideout and one great RB who was gone for the second half. Offense has been addressed this offseason. Too much was put on Dak last season.

Defense has upgraded their #2 corner position, probably will draft a future starter to improve the depth yr 1.

It's time to fix our run defense and their are two free agents who can get that fixed next year:

Bobby Wagner
A'Shaun Robinson

Wagner despite his age, is still considered an elite run stopping MLB. Believe he was the highest rated MLB in the entire league last season.

Robinson has always been a terrific run defender. One of the best in the entire league.
The market value of these players are not what the Cowboys go after in FA. Don't assume just because they made a few trades that their standard operating procedure with free agency has changed. It hasn't.

Wagner on a 1yr 7 million contract agreed to today could of been absorbed, easily with their current cap space.

Yes. I wasn't arguing that. I was simply pointing out that the Cowboys don't sign players in the 7-8 million range in free agency. Both Wagner and the other guy happen to be in that range.

They traded for Cooks. They could have signed Wagner and or Robinson. The fact they haven't yet annoys me.

They haven't because they never spend that much in free agency. Never. They're not going to. Lets not put the two together. The Cowboys spend rock bottom money in free agency to fill holes. They haven't done otherwise since 2012 or 2013. They made a couple of trades to avoid having to address those positions in the first couple of days of the draft. That has nothing to do with free agency. They're building through the draft. That hasn't changed. The trades were an extension to that. FA remains the same. Expect nothing of value.

No, they haven't sign any outside fa's to sizable contracts. This points to them using the cap space more for future deal for their own. Still still we will see a few low level signings, but fa for this yr is about done. Hankins, Kicker, maybe another veteran linebacker.

....really, and what about the game in Dallas last season against SF with fewer weapons on offense than they had this season....and the Dak-led offense that had more weapons last season than this season? Same results different year different excuses.
