Based on who the Cowboys have met-these are the top 4 positions

-If the Cowboys do not want to move Tyler Smith from LT, they are going to need a plug and play starting Guard.
-Cowboys are bringing in all the top receivers, which suggests then are going to take one and one high. Cooks is basically on a 1 yr deal, Lamb 5th yr option next yr.
-We discussed the corner position many times, both Diggs/Gilmore are fa's in 2024 and the depth was terrible last season when called upon
-Already heard the Cowboys state that they are looking to add a power back to replace Zeke.

This doesn't rule out any other positions, especially picking so late, but these are the areas they look to upgrade in the draft process.

We’re basically going to draft the positions that we just added in FA to replace those guys in 1/2 years.

This is why plugging holes in FA is so huge, we don’t have to have a rookie start if he isn’t ready. Come in, contribute and get better.

That has been their strategy since Stephen took over, sign bridge starters until a prospect is ready. In all four cases, they don't have to contribute yr 1, but will be expected to do so the year after.

I am a little surprised regarding WR and CB. This clearly is not an "all in" season.

An all in season would be a monster 1-tech, a penetrating 3-tech, OG, RB, TE and LB.

Interest in Will McDonald, priority WR's and CB's signals to me preparing for a post DLaw era as well as insurance ahead of Diggs/Lamb negotiations.

You left out pass rusher and tight end. I can almost guarantee they will draft one of each in the first 4 rounds.

I’d disagree. The reason we lost to SF is due to a lack of weapons and Dak playing poorly. Which IMO go hand in hand when you’re expecting Gallup and Noah Brown to be your 2/3 on a playoff roster. #2CB was also an issue down the stretch.

We did a great job thus far addressing those issues in FA to try and make a run the next 2 years and now we’re seeing our FO look at long term solutions to those problems with our draft visits.

Just me, but I don't see CB at 26. First, we are overlooking how well Daron Bland played. To me, he's earned the right to start. Second, this FO has shown they can find starting CBs w/o using a 1st round pick. OL and RB I agree 100% but still won't rule out TE

As for DE......simply put, I don't trust them enough to risk a 1st round pick on one.

Not sure it can be classified as a restructure more like a pay cut. Essentially he sign a contract extension last year with Houston for 2 years at a little under $40 million. After Houston agreed to pick up $6 million, Dallas reworked it to a 2 year $20 million with a $12 million bonus.

I thought Cornerback was not a need until I noticed the only players under contract for 24 are Bland, Joseph, and Wright. Cornerback is a big need.

No, there aren't signals of going all in, but rather preparing for next offseason where many big extensions will take place.

Bland is a better slot corner then he is on the outside, yes he can play there, but they still need a starting corner for 2024. They usually need some development, which makes it a good idea to draft one now.

Yeah you understand. I think the pass rusher will be bpa in the first and the guard in the third. Wide receiver, running back, cornerback, and tight end have some depth. Cornerback they might double dip and cut two players of the roster.

A healthy Gallup was never that great of a player. He’s a serviceable 3 but he’s always struggled with separation and is grossly overpaid. We need an out for his contract ASAP. That + the focus on WR leads me to believe we’ll likely see more 4 WR sets.

A highly drafted CB may not start but they’d still get plenty of snaps. Lewis isn’t guaranteed to be on the roster and all of our backup JAGs accounted for 300+ snaps which this player could eat into.

I’m all for continuing to add talent to the DT room but it’s a poor class so the worst thing we can do is reach for a player over a high value position like WR / CB / DE when those areas of the draft are much stronger. Also - don’t sleep on Osa, he’s turning into a quality player and I’m expecting big things for him this year as our 3T. He had comparable numbers to fletcher Cox last year (outside of sacks due to significantly less snaps).
