Managing more than 76 yards rushing sure would have helped. And an improved line would certainly help that.

Certainly not trading up for the most replaceable position in football.
 
If he gets past Washington, a 2024 2nd rounder could get them up to PIT’s pick at #17, maybe that and 2023 4th rounder to get up to GB at #15 if they’re concerned WAS might take him. I wouldn’t be against it.

But I wouldn't trade up for him. As much as he would be a huge asset for us, we'd suffer else where for it. We have too many needs to lose the picks it would take to go get him. Missing out on an opportunity to draft a top tier OG, LB, CB, WR, DE or DT for the best RB, when there are so many other very capable RB's in this class, isn't a great idea.

Would you give up a 2024 2nd round pick to get him?

Pollard is a game changer. Until a medical professional comes out and says he won’t make a full recovery I’m all set with the amount of money / resources we have at RB.

Draft a mid rounder.
 
Here are some of the problems with trading up or even using a first round pick for a RB:
  • A typical RB has about 4-5 years of effectiveness. As opposed to a first round OL (like Zack Martin for example) who can give you 10-12 years of effectiveness.
  • The RB position is relatively easy to find talent on Day 2 or even 3 that can have immediate impact for much better value.
  • Your first round pick needs to be outstanding value- longer than 4-5 years of value in other words.

I don't think gibbs is first round talent. Robinson is. but RB position is not as valued, unless you are dallas and spend your 5th over all pick on a RB

what's a game changer? and it doesn't matter. top 3 RBs last year, were watching playoffs at home. Philly, was top 5 rushing team with Miles Sanders. top 3 rushing teams missed the playoffs.

you don't need to spend a first round pick on a RB. much less trade up.

btw, I don't think gibbs is a game changer.

There is a point where it's absolutely justified for a trade up for Bijan. If he's on the board at 18 its time to call the Steelers.

You know very well what a game changer is. Zeke was a game changer his first 4-5 years. Emmitt was a game changer his first 8 years. SWEETNESS was a game changer. So was Barry. Etc, etc. You know what a game changer is.

You make some good points, but I wouldn't say Robinson is projected to be a typical RB. I've seen comparisons to M. Faulk and L. Tomlinson.

I think the percentage of 1st round picks re-signed by their original team to second contracts is much lower than people realize.

I don't know.

Your first priority is to hit on the pick. (I think you overestimate the hit rate on late first round picks.) With Bijan you're assured a Pro Bowl level talent that will touch the ball more than anyone on your offence outside of the QB and C and can give you explosive plays both in the run game and in the pass game.

I don't know if Bijan would be my first choice but I could certainly talk myself into taking him. He's the most explosive offensive player in the draft. We can use that.

Bijan Robinson is a great talent for sure. But we have more needs than just a RB. My belief is a RB in today’s NFL is very poor draft value in round 1. In the last 5 drafts, only 4 RBs were selected in the first round by other NFL teams, and other than Saquon Barkley, most were taken late in round one.

Again, not saying we don’t need a RB. We do. But in this draft we can get immediate help at that position in rounds 2-4 while addressing some other needs too. This is a very deep draft at multiple positions. I just think spending first round capital on a RB is a waste of value.
 
Heard that in 2017. That was a deep class too and we needed one then more than now. Ended up with none
 
I see them going more of the 3rd round for a RB and addressing the OL first.
