He doesn't elaborate as to why but according to Broaddus the Cowboys aren't loving Darnell Washington. He also mentions that G Chandler Zavala out of North Carolina St. is a player they do really like.

I like Washington much more as a trade back guy personally so this makes me happy

The only one crying and whining here is your 63 year old self. Tyler Smith cane from a small school college. Was rated to be a 3rd round/high backup material type of player needing time to gain some experience. Cowboys decided not to wait on him, so they drafted him much earlier than expected due to Tyler Smith's potential. Injury to Tyron Smith during training camp forced the Cowboys to start rookie small school O-Tackle Tyler Smith, and the rest is history. Darnell Washington is of the same mold.

If the Cowboys like another TE late in the 1st or trading down into the 2nd round over Darnell Washington, they are making a big mistake. Darnell Washington is the most complete TE in this year's draft. Superior size, excellent blocker and good pass catcher who is aggressive running for YAC (yards after the catch).

wow, cant agree with you there. Mayer is the most complete TE. I see Washington as bust material. slow feet and an injury waiting to happen. Short NFL career. Hes just too big to last.

Mayer has a low ceiling, but he’s going to be your 65+ catch, 800+ yards and a bunch of TDs for you. Consistent and good.

Washington could possibly be a bust which is why teams are hesistant. But man the possibilities are insane. I’m not a fan of it because I just don’t like a big project at 26. I feel we can get much much more from a guy like LaPorta or Kraft later

IF the media has said anything, its that the Cowboys are leaning toward a complimentary bigger back to team with Pollard. That isnt Gibbs.

I heard Broaddus yesterday say he’s hearing the Cowboys like Hendershot more than Ferguson because of what he can do downfield.

So if he’s right then that’s kind of a clue about what they may be looking for at TE in the draft.

Mercedes was a former 1st rd pick who also was very athletic, he never became anything more then a blocking TE. Teams who are investing with Washington, understand he is a project as a receiver at this juncture and hoping he develops in that area. Heard some teams view him as a future Tackle.

It’s simply just stating he is a great TE who will be a starter day one. But he is likely maxed speed wise and frame wise. He likely never puts up Kelce or Kittle numbers, but he’s a great player.
