Bills GM Admits 1st-Round Trade Was Direct Move To Block Cowboys From Getting TE

Misleading headline, they didn't do it to block the Cowboys but to get the player they had targeted. They could care less what the Cowboys do in the draft
He said as much when asked about it. Obviously, that doesn't mean their assumption was correct. They just weren't taking any chances.

“We had a good feeling that Dallas would take him and we just really liked him and felt he would be a great fit in our offense,” Beane said. “He’s a tight end, but he’s a receiving tight end. We think he’ll pair well with Dawson [Knox] and give us another target in the middle of the field.”

I tend to agree that the Bills did take Kincaid away from Dallas. I don't mind the Mazi pick, but Jerry intended to get Kincaid. The desperate selection of Schoonmaker in the 2nd confirms to me they wanted or felt they needed a TE. Of course Jerry is not gonna admit they got screwed again. Not a good look.
I'll take made up stories for $1000 Alex.

It appears that the Jones are clueless when they come in these drafts. This is the second time in two years that they had their sites on a player only to sit there and watch other teams trade up to block them. If there is a bonafide player in the draft that you need and can get for a reasonable price then pull the trigger on a deal, don't sit there in your WAR room and look like idiots when it's announced that the dude you wanted is now playing for someone else because you neglected to do your homework.

It wasn't to block the Cowboys. That's just silly headline spin.

It was to prevent the Cowboys from blocking *them* from getting who *they* wanted.
Yup. They knew we were going to take him. They wanted him. So they moved ahead of us.

Happens all the time. Not sure why this got 5 pages. It's just so obvious.

Because it’s not true? Quinn was texting Micah about the pick hours before the draft and Kincaid wasn’t even the top TE on their board.

Sfw? My favorite metallica cover song! From diamond head

HEY...if that is true it is mean and not fair.

Oh well... rub some dirt on it and move on.

Every time this has happened in the last several years the player Jerry coveted turns into a bust and we end up drafting a pro bowler we didn’t really want. So I’m good with it.

I wouldn't say they knew. They suspected and weren't willing to risk it, so they moved ahead of us. It does happen all the time. Seems like often to us. A price we pay for Jerry wanting eyeballs and so blabbing more than other GMs and Owners.

But that's not the big news in KSKville!

What say you to Mazi in the 1st? You finally got your 1st round DT. Like him?

He kinda has a Tyler Smith feel to him. A seeming slight reach whose athleticism turns out to be next level.

Dallas did not want Kinclaid. Buffalo did and traded up a spot to grab him. Nothing to see here

Dan quinn and Micah Parsons wanted mazi.

Mazi was always going to be the pick .

I initially believed they weren't drafting a TE in the first. But the 2nd round pick now has me wondering. However, we'd have to believe the Cowboys had no interest in Mayer at all. But either way, the Cowboys just sit there. Every team in the league knows they can trade up one spot in front of us if they want the player they think the Cowboys are going to pick. Do you think if the Cowboys had the 10th pick they would have gotten Jalen Carter? Of course not. Someone would have jumped in front. After the 8th pick, the Eagles jumped to 9. At that point everyone knew who they were picking.
Micah and Quinn texts prior to the start of the 1st round tell me they were going mazi Smith.

I don't believe kincaid was the te we wanted. It was laporta or mayer.

Well then they fooled BUFF into thinking so. BUFF wanted him and was afraid we were going to take him, so moved ahead of us.

Honestly, this isn't rocket science. It's very clear. You are thinking this into being way more complicated than it is.

I am on the fence.

Love the size and athleticism.

Worried about the possible lack of lateral agility and his wearing down.

This guy is a true boom or bust prospect.

Sweet I’m overthinking it. Can you explain the text then? Because it seems like you have to ignore it to think otherwise or maybe you’re just not thinking at all

As always, Cowboys are playing checkers while everyone else is playing chess.

If they moved up with the sole purpose to block the Cowboys from getting a player, then someone in Buffalo needs fired.

The Cowboys went by their board...catch up with proven history.
