Earl Bostic Jr must be a priority because they guaranteed him $200k

how does this work?.is there a limit to the amount we can give UDFAs?
I believe there is a maximum they can use on signing bonuses. I don’t think there is a limit on the base salaries if they make the team but I’m sure they’ll all get the minimum.

Are we giving some of these 200k UDFA the S2 test
See a ton of aptitude to improve ala BPurdy.?, in addition to enough physical ability.

Armstrong has turned out okay, but I'd weary of any player that KU produces. That program is just awful at football and I am a KU alumni. I spent a good amount of time in Lawrence and I never once went to a football game because aside from 1 season I was there, they were terrible every year.

It would be interesting to know the team’s actual probable liability on a contract like this. Guaranteed obviously means that the player is going to see that money for sure, but I wonder if there is offset language in the actual contract.

What if the team cuts the player and then brings him back to the practice squad? I would assume that the guarantee is somewhat covered (maybe completely) by the practice squad salary. Or if that player is claimed off of waivers, the Cowboys get credit (offset) against the guarantee by the other team paying the player during that season.

I think Luepke is the one with the best chance to make the team. Looks like a guy who can run down on STs. Also could be a short yardage back and a pass protector which are both needs. Can also play FB or HB and is a good receiver
I have a pretty good feeling besides Luepke a total of three of these guys may end up making it which includes Luepke

Earl Bostick

6-6, 310 with long arms and quick feet.
Only 1 OT in this draft had a better 10-yard time.
Bostick: 1.68
Broderick Jones: 1.67

Technique if a mess because the was a TE his 1st two college seasons.
- Just needs to develop technique and get a little stronger.
Can see with Bostick and Luepka (and Schoonmaker), we're creating a Big Package to replace Zeke's goal-line process.

It’s really not that uncommon anymore especially with the expanded practice squad rules. He likely had a draftable grade and they know there’s a spot for him at least on the PS.
I remember a long time ago we have a UDFA a few hundred k to sign and we ended up cutting him anyway before the season started.

Well they did not use a premium pick but maybe they can find 1 quality linemen amongst the draft and free agents. They are at least throwing bodies at it.

Maybe Bostick just needs to get on the jugs machine and be a blocking TE. A short yardage TE who can *legitimately* block has game day value. Can probably take special teams blocking snaps too.
Too bad Rico spent years not figuring that one out.
I think Rico got a good chunk of guaranteed money too.
A FB who can run and catch and a OT who can run 3 yard routes. Building up a beefy short yardage unit.
On both sides of the ball, I'm seeing short yardage specialists. That's the way our team is going. Expanding building out the edge roles.

Looks that way to me too.
Bostick played two years TE in HS, two years TE in college, and his final two years in college at OT.
Giggity!
I'm finally getting my legit TE/T short yardage blocking TE.
