Cowboys draft below with consensus big board rankings in parenthesis.

1. Smith (35)
2. Schoon (101)
3. Overshown (105)
4. Fehoko (184)
5. Richards (209)
6. Scott Jr (N/A)
6. Vaughn (142)
7. Brooks (N/A)

Here’s how I would’ve taken a stab at it leaning more BPA while keeping needs considered.

1. Nolan Smith - LB (16)
2. Ocyrus Torrence - G (32)
3. Adetomiwa Adebawore - DL (43)
4. Tyler Scott - WR (78)
5. JL Skinner - S (92)
6. Duece Vaughn - RB (142)
7. Brayden Willis - TE (257)

Not hating the Mazi pick but Nolan was one of my sleeper picks for us at 26. Thinking he would have been a great edge for us.
I would have taken Torrence at 58 sooo fast. Not sure why they felt they needed to take a blocking TE that high instead of him. Time will tell who was right.
Love the Overshown pick. He was another I had my hopes up for us landing. He's a DQ special in the making.
Not upset about Fehoko either. I love fire eaters like him on the D front.
Deuce's story is awesome. Not sure how much he plays for us but great story.

Your perceived rankings, not theirs and you get to know who will be available at later picks. Means nothing and I like the original better anyway.

It’s not my rankings…it’s the consensus rankings compiled from over 50+ draft analysts and sites.

Thanks for stopping by!

Really the original draft and swapping Shoon for Torrence would have justified an A grade to me.

Yea, I like Mazi and thought it was an ok pick. They saw a good match for a need and took their guy. I just feel like Nolan was as big a blinking light as Lamb was when he slid at you can’t pass that guy up.

If Fehoko moves to DT maybe he’ll be ok. He just doesn’t check the athleticism box to be a solid pro at DE.

Again, your perceived rankings based on other people's opinion. They are not the team's rankings and don't take into account how those players fit into the schemes they are planning to run. And again, it's easy to look at consensus rankings after the fact and simply choose some combination of lower numbers and think yourself a genius. They had to do it in real time with their draft board and not knowing who would be available with their next picks. But go on playing your meaningless game.

That might look better to many on paper, but we have no idea how that would impact the offensive changes McCarthy wants to make. They would be left without a TE who can block and catch well with absolutely no option at all to try and fill that hole except a free agent. They actually have like 3-4 options to fill the hole at LG including getting a veteran free agent. Seems like they chose to fill the hole that would be harder to fill later which may be the smart thing to do when you're actually on the clock and have to make the decision in real time.

Usually when a lot of people agree on something there might be something to it…that’s why it’s called a consensus.

And these are built and updated through the draft process not after the draft. I picked players based off of how highly ranked they were and how they fit into our needs.

Nothing wrong with that.

I'm not against the Shoon pick by any means, I just think the better value was with Torrence. To be honest I think Schoon ends up being a very solid TE for the Cowboys and is productive year 1. The sense I get is MM wants to play 2 TE sets frequently, which also helps offset a potential lack of depth both WR and the Oline. I'm actually a fan of Schoon pick, but in my mind its a solid B instead of the A grade, mostly due to overall upside. IMO Schoon is the safe pick, Torrence is more of a wild card, but has a chance to be a pro bowler year after year.

Except for the fact the Cowboys liked Shoon more than Torrence.
No issue with that, just giving my opinion. Not unrealistic at all that Schoon becomes the better player, I just think strictly from an upside standpoint that Torrence is the better prospect. Schoon is probably a better plug-and-play all around option, but never gets confused with Travis Kelce during his career.

I heard something about Torrence and medicals pre draft on CBS but couldn't find it.
Ahh maybe that’s why he slid?

If that’s the case give me Hyatt or Sanders who are ranked 39th and 41st.

I could be wrong but I think they said he may not get drafted. Rumors were getting pretty crazy though.
