Pros -

Tough runner, carried the load like a workhorse back
Good hands
Sudden route runner in the passing game
Has the ability to make defenders look silly with his jukes
Hits top speed almost instantly

Cons -

Small frame
He's a willing blocker, but the dude is small. He's not a pass protecting RB.

Those are the only cons I can think of. Some people want to talk about him using the moniker "gadget player". He is not. We're talking about a back who toted the rock 478 times in college for 5.7 YPC and 28 TDs. He's a RB, not a gadget player.

Not looking for whining about the player/pick. What are the pros and cons of Deuce Vaughn
Con:
When picked at #212, there really aren't many cons.

Pro:
Most receiving yards of any RB in this draft.
Most rushing yards of the top 10 RBs in this draft.

Deuce didn't run at the combine. Tony's 4.52 40 was at the combine, Deuce ran 4.56 at his pro day.

The 30 lbs matters when it comes to running through arm tackles, which TP does routinely on big plays. Virtually no big plays in the NFL happen without a broken tackle, especially from running backs.
Deuce is a pretty strongly built guy and it's actually pretty difficult for bigger players to adjust to hitting such a low to the ground player.

The only con is his height and weight. Production and value are there. And he seems very strong with lower leg strength. quality numbers on the bench, Maybe a little slow in the 40, but he certainly doesn't play that way. An undersized but explosive football player whose numbers were pretty outstanding against top talent.

Excellent pass receiver as well.

His height and weight is an advantage for him. It makes him hard to see and tackle.

I can't wait to see what they do with Vaughn and Luepke. Both of them are excellent receivers. A lot of different packages they can run with them and Schoonmaker.

But those are still the reasons a guy that productive dropped to the 6th round. Maybe it could be an advantage but when a defender gets a hold of him, I doubt it.

The deep running back class caused him to drop. I think he was outstanding value.

Exactly the point since he dropped to the 6th round due to his size.
That's funny because his size helps him. The league gave the Cowboys a very good player at 212. He is going to be fun to watch.

I agree he was quality value where he was drafted considering his workload and production in college.

Cons:
  • He has minimal special teams experience
  • He goes down really easily
  • He will struggle to bounce outside effectively at his speed

Pro:
  • He's a good receiver
  • He turns on a dime
  • He's surprisingly good between the tackles
  • He doesn't take a lot of big hits

Not looking for whining about the player/pick. What are the pros and cons of Deuce Vaughn
Pro's:
  • Shifty and Compact will get lost behind the line of scrimmage the way Barry Sanders used too.
  • Great receiver with run the cole beasely routes and great on screens.
  • good at reading blocks and knowing where to go.

Con's:
  • small 170 right now needs 20 - 30lbs of muscle added to get up to 190-200 to take the punishment. If he does, how much speed quickness does he loose.
  • cannot pass block due to size issues. Again needs to add more size.
  • about as tall as most nfl players waist so he's going to get his head taken off a few times. hopefully he's not in concussion protocol by the end of the 1st game.

I recommend watching a few of his college games.
