Good to hear this. This unit must stay healthy or healthy-ish for us to succeed

One of the additions includes offensive line coach Mike Solari, who has been coaching in the NFL for 35 years which started with his first stint with the Cowboys in 1987-88, spending two years on the final two seasons with Tom Landry as head coach. Solari was an assistant offensive line coach and special teams coach for those two seasons. Since then, he's been to six different teams, including the Packers for a season under Mike McCarthy.

Eight-time all-pro offensive lineman Zack Martin has already been able to bond early on with Solari as he sees a different type of energy being brought to the room in 2023 with bubbling excitement to finally hit the field later this summer.

He's been great," Martin said. "A lot of energy. His resume speaks for itself, he's coached a lot of good lines. I think the biggest thing is bringing that edge back to our offensive line and I think he's gonna be a big part of that. It's been a great first month or so with him and I can't wait to get to practice with him."

The outcome of the 2023 campaign rests on this squad. If the offensive line can perform at a high level, and this will open holes for the running backs, and provide a moment of two extra for Dak to locate and deliver the ball, with the defense looking like top of the fleet meat eaters, this team may be on a collision course for real success in the play-offs.

The season hinges on the offensive line and over-all health of the team.

Is Solari a stone mason? The wall is falling apart.

It didnt perform at a high level last year and we are worse this year. McGovern who sucked replaced by Chung who sucks even more. So Im curious as how its going to perform at a high level.

I know Roy won't respond to me since he has me blocked (due to me proving him wrong so much, especially when it comes to our Oline), but he totally doesn't get it. Cowboys will be fine. The problem in recent years was Joe Philbin as Oline coach. Glad the Cowboys finally got rid of him. Mike Solari looks promising as new Oline coach.

Roy, like so many others, is upset and spreading doom-n-gloom every chance he gets simply because the Cowboys didn't draft an O-Guard early in the draft as he wanted. BooHooHoo...acting out is funny but sad. Like Will McClay said...the Cowboys don't need to be constantly spending 1st round draft picks on Olinemen, especially if they now have a new Oline coach who can train them middle-to-late draft prospects into bonafied good starting material. That's exactly what the Cowboys are doing, and I have full trust they will get the Oline greatly improved (including backups). A little faith and patience is what is needed by everyone at this time.

The week 1 starting OL should be Tyron, Tyler, Biadasz, Martin, Steele.

The other linemen are depth. This is probably not even all the players on the roster. Once teams cut to 53 there will be other options.

Dallas is not in a bad spot with four months before the season starts.

Are you confident Tyron can contribute at any position the team deems fit other than his left tackle?
And, for how long?

How confident are you the team thinks they will get quality production out of Steele after having a knee injury which takes more than one season to heel completely and get back to form?

Since the rumbling is Steele may have to man left guard, what do you believe the results will be?
And if Steele is the swing offensive lineman, which has been suggested, what production do you believe he will offer?

If Tyler Smith has to play left tackle because the brain trust thinks Tyron is a right tackle, how confident are you with Asim Richards or Chuma Edoga at left guard?
Do either of those men cause you to believe they are better than McGovern, who was not all that to begin with?

And from your comments, you believe this new coach will elevate lesser players to a point Dallas once again has a top flight offensive line? Or, as you said bonafide good starting material.

Last year the line was eroding as time wore on. Bringing in the old guy from Philly as an option, then moving Tyron to the right tackle spot was questionable at best. The results were on the field when they faced tougher competition.

Edoga is 25 and comes from the Jets. Why would they release him if he could be coached up? I understand different franchises offer different opportunities. But to my way of thinking, the mix and match line last year was an abject failure at times. Other times they played well but not great. How is one year older on this line going to be better?

Either Tyron plays left tackle and you move Tyler to right tackle and then cross your fingers you can find a guard out of the rest of the non starters.

Or you move Tyler inside and Tyron to left tackle and who plays right tackle. I do not believe anyone who looks at the injury Steele had and thinks he will come back at 100% isn't fooling himself. Especially if you wish to move him around.

I was very vocal at getting Torrence. And he was there in the second. They went with a blocking TE, but I was assured when people rallied to chase Schultz out of town with pitchforks and torches that the TE's still here were enough. I guess the brain trust thinks the best guard in the draft - so says most of the pros - is not as good as drafting a TE who is an okay blocker.

Dallas is rolling the dice on this line. It seems to me they cannot actually work on both sides of the ball in assembling a team in the same year. I have stated Dak needs better protection to bring to the table the best he can be. I do not share the opinion he is crapola like so many here do. But for him to rise up and deliver the ball, he needs more time in a clean pocket.

Dallas seems to have ignored that opinion.

I am holding out for a June 1st cut of an offensive lineman who can come in and play left guard, which leave better options than uprooting Tyron to the other side, or one of your best tackles in Tyler to guard, and leave a tackle hole.

Just my opinion.

From an article on December 12th, 2022 on Steele.

The starting right tackle suffered a torn ACL in the Dallas Cowboys narrow victory over the Houston Texans in Week 14, instantly creating a question mark at yet another key position.

And it is your considered opinion Steele will come back from an acl tear to man his position? Even though we saw Gallup in a similar situation this last season still not fully healed.

The reports are that he will be ready for training camp. We'll see in three months.

P.S. Torronce wasn't selected because he is strictly a guard. He didn't have the position versatility that Dallas values.

At the very start of the draft process I too wanted Torronce at 26. But once I found out he had no position versatility. I then switched to DL. My choices were Mazi and Breese. I chose Breese till I found out about his injury history(high risk). At the end I was hoping for Mazi or Avila.

I think Dallas made the right choice.

Wall lol. Based on the thread I made about the play in San fran we need to stop worrying about physical attributes only because the mental looks to be lacking. What good is the brute strength if you miss assignments?

@12+88=7 already answered you some questions, so I won't repeat what he already said. You @TwoDeep3 seem to have forgotten about Matt Farniok? Go rewatch tape of last season's Week 2, 3 and 4 games when Farniok was plugged in temporarily for McGovern when he got injured during Week 1s game. It was rookie Tyler Smith, Matt Farniok and Tyler Biadasz manning the left side of the Oline. Notice how the Cowboys ran very well to their left side when these 3 were starting next to each other. As soon as McGovern came back for Week 5, the run to the left side wasn't the same.

I'm not worried at all with our Oline right now. Starters from left to right will be Tyron, Tyler, Biadasz, Martin and Steele. Steele is looking good right now during rehab, hence why the Cowboys doctors feel he should be fully healed by the time the regular season starts. Steele is putting in the work during rehab, and he's looking good, hence why team doctor's believe he will be fully back in time for the 2023 season.

The other backups in Waletzko, Ball, Farniok, along with newly acquired Edoga, plus 2nd year Center, Brock Hoffman, and the rookie drafted Asim Richards will be plenty for now to backup the starting 5. If something tragic were to suddenly happen, the Cowboys still could pick up another veteran who might currently be available or go after preseason cuts before the regular season starts when teams are trying to solidify their 53 manned rosters. Have trust and patience. The Cowboys have a new Oline coach who should be an improvement over Philbin. Plus, McClay, McCarthy and the Cowboys front office have done a great job this offseason.

I'm glad to hear of the addition of Solari, if our starting OL fails to stay healthy our OL depth will need all the support and coaching up they can get.

Not only that, but Solari is highly experienced. I'm sure if there was any concern, he'd have raised it.

Why would a coach bring an edge to the line? The edge should come from the players not a coach.

He should motivate them, put them in the best position to be successful, etc., but if a player says he needs to get his edge from a coach, that's weak sauce.

Versatility - good at two positions, not outstanding at either.
