I do not see where the faith in Edoga comes from.

The team that drafted him flat out cut him, despite their own offensive line needs.

And the team that claimed him last year didn’t care to make an offer to keep him above the near minimum deal he agreed to with the Cowboys.

I think any faith in Edoga is misplaced.
Being local I hear plenty of Jets stuff, but I haven’t heard anything at all on him….and they have had their share of OL problems. No one was particularly upset over losing him but who knows…could be a scheme thing, some guys take a few years for the light to go on, etc…Pipe dreams…

I don’t think the plan is for him to start, just cheap veteran depth. Then I think about dudes like Nate Livings and McKenzie Bernadeau and want to puke up lunch.

I don’t mind kicking Tyler inside. I think he can handle the back and forth if need be and would be a mauler of a guard.

It’s a massive if, but IF Tyron can give you most of the season that line has a shot to be dominant.

This is not an excuse to have not drafted a ready OL sooner, more like dealing with the now.

I don't believe there's any scenario where they would not start a healthy Tyron Smith. But I do believe Tyler-Edoga-Biadasz-Martin-Steele is likely to be the starting lineup for the majority of the season. It's just smart not be counting on Tyron to play a full season.
I do see the scenario with Tyron being the swing. Since McCarthy been here, Jerry has been wrong on pretty much who the starters will be, he just likes to talk.

While I understand your logic, part of the issue with Edoga is that the Jets thought he was a T and NEVER tried him @ G.

I don’t know why they would, for a guy who struggles to anchor. That’s only made more glaring fighting behemoths inside.

One of the more credible Cowboys reporters (forget who off the top of my head) said that their dream scenario would be Tyler Smith/Edoga/Tyler B/Martin/Steele with Tyron being a swing. He said they believe from the film of Edoga at LG he has a real chance at being a dependable starter (an opinion shared by @xwalker and his film breakdown).

He included they believe this has the potential to be the lineup with the least amount of questions to answer. The only one in that scenario is if Edoga is the player they believe he is. I’m iffy on it but under McCarthy we have had no issues identifying OL talent and have developed younger guys like Steele and Biadisz into real players. So I give them the benefit of the doubt.

The main reason for this is they want to clear a path for Tyler Smith as the future of the LT position. He added that in the case that Edoga cannot do the job, they will be looking to slide Tyler into LG and start Tyron at LT. This lineup the only question is what do you do if/when Tyron gets hurt. Which is answered by Waletzko and Edoga’s performance.

If Waletzko is ready to be a reliable swing then you keep Tyler at LG and throw Wally outside. If it’s Edoga who’s more equipped, you’d throw Tyler to LT and insert Edoga at LG.

Personally, I think the bodies are there for us to have a really good line. It’s literally just up to TC, pre season, and injuries to give us the answer. I think we could potentially be very happy by week 1.
I've heard this too, but Tyron Smith is still probably the best tackle on the roster.

I'd just move Steele to LG - assuming he can. He's such a mauler in the run game he should be fine, so I think your best 5 is: Tyler Smith - Steele - Biadasz - Martin - Tyron Smith

I'm also fine with just going with the same group that started last year, especially if Waletzko is a capable swing. If Tyron's out long-term, then you can shuffle, but I think having 73, 77, and 78 all on the field gives you your best 5.

Interesting stuff I read elsewhere about todays OTAs.

D. Vaughn had a 45 yard sliding completion from Grier.

K. Turpin taking multiple snaps at receiver and the only player fielding kicks.

Fehoko took both 1st and 2nd team snaps with a 100% catch rate.

It's only OTAs but it appears that Dallas has no intention of using D. Vaughn in the kicking game. He took no snaps there and spent time on pass protection. It also seems like Turpin in his second year is going to get some work at WR. Perhaps Turpin finds a spot as a WR5/KR in McCarthy's version of offense? I'm not the Garrett basher some of you guys are, but his inability to find niche roles for guys like Turpin always bothered me. There aren't many people in the NFL with Fehoko's size/speed ratio. If Dallas is some how able to develop him into even a WR4 prospect it would be a real coup.

Probably want Deuce to grasp the offense and basics before throwing other stuff at him.

Maybe the Jets media and fans don’t know much about football to know if he was good or not. I mean they not had anything good to report for years. :lmao2:

We better hope he’s ready to start the season. I’m pretty concerned about our RB situation. If we struggle to run the ball, it’s going to put it all on Dak’s shoulders.
Oh no.

I’m sure you’re one of those who thinks we’re perfectly fine at RB. You’re probably licking your chops thinking about what a jag like Ronald Jones could do. Lol Or maybe you’re content just running Pollard into the ground 20 times a game and allow him to pick up all the tough yards.
