I am still holding out hope for CB Kelvin Joseph to develop into a solid starting CB for the Cowboys. But while the hit rate on first round picks is around 75%, the hit rate on second round picks is about 50%. The Cowboys hit big with 2nd round pick Diggs in 2020, but their 2021 second round pick might prove the statistics if he ends up being a bust.

But I still like his size and athleticism at the CB position. Unfortunately, his lack of playing experience in college has shown up, and he may not have the mental ability to play the position in the NFL.

Recently, he tweeted that he finally gets it, and this year is going to be much better. Talk is cheap, but I am still hoping for him to break out and start living up to his potential. Even if he does finally get it, he’s going to find it hard to get on the field playing behind Diggs, and former DPOTY Gilmore, not to mention two players ranked among the top 10 playing the slot in Lewis and Bland. If he does start plying better, it may still be another year before we see it on game day.

I think this is the year for Joseph. His conditioning looked great towards the end of last season, and he came up with that clutch forced fumble in San Fran that redeemed all the criticism he was getting from fans.

I'm just happy they are willing to look at him playing the slot and at safety. I think he'll provide more value and depth there.

Personally I think he was a wasted draft pick when you look at the sure fire players that weren’t taken. And his stupidity cost us last year too. One play doesn’t make up for the many

We just have too many good young players at the CB position. He would have to come on big time THIS year and hope for injuries and PT.

This fan has to root for team, first...lol. :starspin:

This is Bossman's last shot.

2023 is indeed his last shot... he will be here this year, but in 2024 there is a $1.7m cap savings as a pre-June 1 cut. And forget about being extended if he bombs this year again. ST play ain't gonna save his arse. It is put up or shut up time for him.

I'm hoping that he gets cut and they have a better player with better character to take his place.

The stupidity? They have done very well in the draft period. You couldn't do better than they have done.

At least one of Wright or Joseph has to go this pre-season. Possibly both but as the ole' true meme/staple goes "We like our guys".
They are certainly set up to keep whoever makes the team in training camp.

He probably will get traded

No player on the roster is on more of a hot seat than Joseph. It’s going to be now, or never for him in training camp with the Cowboys. I was surprised he made the team last year and I’ll be even more surprised if he makes the team this year. I don’t think he will.
