Cowboys wide recievers will open running game

The offensive line will be a big factor to this season if they play well,look out Dallas will put 35 or more points on the score board.I hope McCarthy can add some screen passes into the offense.

Yes, but it only matters if Dallas is consistently aggressive on first down.

Plus the RBs can be dangerous in the underneath passing game. That has to be a big part of the new look offense.

Not if the Oline cant block. Everything depends on that. If they poorly block then no one will respect the run game and the passing game will be flooded with a nickel two deep zone.
 
The offensive line is the key , if they are an elite unit the sky is the limit and this will be a high scoring offense.
 
Great in theory, and is typically the case.
But the players still need to execute the plays.

Starts with the blocking. As we know, and as been posted.
 
I expect defenses to focus on stopping the run and making Prescott beat them.

as opposed to the defenses that go into games with the plane to let the other team run all day? Most defensive game plains start with "We gotta stop the run" never heard of one that is willing to give the other team a good rushing attack.
 
It's very possible I'm way off here as I don't have any data to support this, but just through watching several teams throughout last season it really seems like the league is moving away from long-developing plays with guys who can take the top off a defense. Some do...Dallas did last year, especially when Dak was healthy, Cincinnati is another team. This doesn't seem to be how most teams are aiding their run games though. If anything it seems like in 2020/2021 defenses started to get tired of teams taking so many deep shots and we started seeing a massive increase in deep shell coverages, especially as the 3 safety looks became more popular. Not to mention teams are developing pass rushers like never before....it seems like every week on the schedule a team is going up against one of the Bosa brothers, Miller, Parsons, Watt, Garrett, reddick, Crostby, etc....even the inside guys like Donald, Jones, Hargrave are racking up 10-20 sack years consistently mostly from the inside.

It seems to me like we are seeing more and more offenses similar to Philly (They just did it better than most) where everything is based off the run game with short/quick passes & RPOs mixed in and the big chunk passes are coming off of sucking defenders in, getting teams to load up the middle of the field and now your explosive receivers are left in space 1v1 once teams get out of the deep cover 2/3/4 looks.

The whole premise of having the deep threat keep the defense honest to open up the run game almost feels outdated to me. I think there are a couple exceptions to that...Miami with two insanely good deep threats comes to mind. It seems the league is largely moving back towards run heavy attacks, although it largely looks different than it did in the past as we have so many more QBs who can take off and RPOs in the game now. I'm guessing for the Cowboys it's a similar situation. McCarthy wants to run the football, he wants to get his TEs on the field. I expect a lot of runs, a lot of play action, short to mid range throws, and the deep shots to be more strategic than often even with adding a Cooks.

Point taken, but I'm not sure that NFL teams haven't focused more on stopping the pass in recent years. I know for me growing up all I ever heard at any level was a defender should play the run first, but that seems to have really stopped over the last decade or so. We saw that first hand from the Cowboys last year when they obviously went after the QB first to a fault as teams started to take advantage of wide open rushing lanes. Even just the personnel that teams are using is more geared towards stopping the pass with fewer linebackers, more DBs, and more athletic guys among the front four.

I wish I remembered who it was but I caught an preseason interview from a college coach about this time last year where he was talking about his teams philosophy on defense. In a nutshell it was basically that they wanted to primarily stop the pass first unless it was an obvious run down. The thought process was that run heavy teams may be able to move the football on them, but one holding penalty was essentially a drive killer so they wanted to give looks that encouraged an offense to call more run plays.

yes attack the weakness in the run game then attack the adjustment with the pass... its been a while since we have seen this here
 
Everyone for the most part understands the 49ers are our biggest obstacle.

They lost Jimmy Ward and replaced him with a 4.6 athlete. The box S they already had was a 4.6 athlete. They are not going to be able to play us like they used to sitting on routes.

I think you're on to something. If the Cowboys are truly adopting a WCO, I would expect a greater reliance on short, quick passes, and lot's of play action interspersed with the occasional deep throw. TEs and RB play will be absolutely crucial to success.
 
"It's like deja vu all over again!" The Cowboys have been trying to do this since forever. The key is having the ability to punish the defense either way, if they are not scared of your passing game or can handle your run game with 7 in the box then your fantastic plan has no teeth. They had no power running game to rely on with San Fran and frankly the QB wasn't up to snuff either... same thing the previous year even with their stellar WR corps.
