Schefter: Zack Martin Unhappy with Contract; Considering Not Reporting to Camp

Welp...the pie gets smaller for CeeDee and Trevon. Does Prescott take less when he's extended to make sure the team is in a good space to sign the team's best player...Micah Parsons?

This also looks like the end of Tony Pollard in Dallas too. This is money the Jones boys didn't expect to spend.

What say you Stephen "Cap Boy" Jones?

Even when you get a player signed cheaply it ends up catching up eventually.

No free lunch ever.

Wasn’t he signed well before he was due to hit free agency? So he wanted the security of that but also wants to be paid as if he is a free agent? Got it.

That all said, they need him here and ought to take care of him.

Since next year is the last year of his contract any way and we will undoubtedly restructure his $13M 2024 base salary downwards like we do every year for cap purposes...just extend the man. You don't screw around with the great players. Give him a SB now and a couple of big $ years starting in 2025 and cut his 2024 base to $1M. The only cap hit this year would be 1/5 of his SB and next year his cap hit would go down.

This is why premier players are stupid to sign long-term deals and the idea that GMs should sign guys to extensions early is a dumb complaint.

These long-term deals don't work for these players. A market-setting deal expires pretty quickly.

I can really see the similarities between a HOF guard and Amari Cooper?! lol
32 years old. Also he is a guard, still a lesser position than wide receiver. But yeah it is a joke whatever way Jerry deals with it.
