I remember an interview I watched with Bill Parcells after he left the Jets and before he took over the Cowboys. I think he was doing the ESPN pregame show.

When the discussion got around to Pre-Season games Bill said that Fans and Sports Media have no idea what they are watching.

Each Team has different goals and ideas about how to handle individual personnel or their teams as a whole.

He said although, he always wanted his team to score more than the opponent, he would often put players and the team at big disadvantage on purpose to find out
if they could overcome. He also wanted to find out who would keep giving effort even when they knew they weren't getting a fair shake. Preseason is the perfect time to see how your players handle adversity.

He also said, when evaluating young players, Tom Landry told him his first year as the Giants Head Coach that you have to give players 3 years before giving up on their potential.

It's for this very reason I've preferred a fg attempt at end of game.

Our K is young and unproven in a game. We've heard about the whole operation of a FG and how it needs to be in synch.

We needed a touchdown and 2 points conversion to tie a meaningless game, would've much rather we get Aubrey some experience there.

Looks like what they were doing with Mazi - wasn't having a good game AND he was gassed - but they kept him out there.

I remember the 3 year rule.

As far as the other stuff. Bill Parcells - master button pusher. Feel blessed we could watch him do his thing in Dallas to change the culture.

"Preseason is the perfect time to see how your players handle adversity."

It's also a good time to see how the fans handle adversity.

Exactly, coaches put the team and players in certain situations and evaluate. Us fans just don't know, to me preseason is useless watching.

Well # 81 time is up .

He kicked two 33 yarders right down the middle. What's the difference in kicking a meaningless field goal at the end. So then he would have kicked 3 down the middle instead of 2.

2 of the best to ever do it.

Respectfully, Dallas kicked no 33 yard field goals in the game against Seattle.

The point I am making is there was an opportunity there to practice in a game setting the whole operation of making the kick in a game situation. Mike McCarthy has mentioned this recently in pressers.

My comment was in light of Bill Parcels comments given on practicing different situations.

It's not a big deal, lol it's just something I would have liked to see them so.

An extra point is 33 yards. He kicked 2 of them. Don't tell me that you didn't know that.

You really want to fight this point? Ok, I'll bite.

A FG is worth 3 points, and though the distance of a FG may meet the distance of an extra point, it is different, if not they'd be called the same.

Second to that, yes, more practice making kicks is needed by a young unproven former soccer player making the leap to the NF L

The ST unit as a whole needs the reps, whether or not it's just one more or not, you work on specific situations in Preseason.

This was a time I thought they could have taken an opportunity to work on that situation. A TD and 2 point attempt to tie up a late night preseason game with zero implications later in the year after you've already lost 2 players for the year in the same game is just as meaningless as a FG made there.

Now go ahead and tell me why my personal opinion on a meaningless outcome is wrong and you are right. I'll wait.

Lol a 33 yard kick is a 33 yard kick. He kicked two right down the middle. You want him to kick another ok. Good for you. They have been practicing those game situations in practice too. He has been making them.
