Is This How Eagles Fans Felt Last Year?

I don’t know about you guys, but this team just feels absolutely stacked to me. It feels like a perfect blend of salty veterans, emerging young players, and crazy depth at key positions.

Yes, there’s mystery behind K and some lighter positions (I wish Overshown hadn’t been hurt), but I am weirdly confident in Aubrey. This isn’t just normal preseason excitement for me. This has to be the best team on paper since the 90s.

Here’s hoping Dak has his best year ever, and this defense goes down in history as legendary. This week is going to be the longest week ever. Go Cowboys!

It doesn’t matter how stacked the Cowboys are, their failures have never had to do with talent. The team had 13 pro bowlers in 2007 but it led to a one and done in the playoffs. Practically every year they’re listed as one of the most talented teams, but if you don’t have a group of players that are committed to being the best, you’re never going to win a championship no matter how stacked you are.

Yeah going to be a long week. A long Sunday until the night game as well.
But football is back and ready to go.
Got some college games in today, so that helps for this week

Now it will be a week of talking heads with the usual love of certain overrated teams and players.

All those teams lacked a player that was a real leader.

The 90’s had Michael Irvin as the vocal and passionate leader. Emmitt and Troy led by example. Defense had Haley.

Now this team has Micah as the leader of the defense and seems the team as well. Do we need anyone else to be that other than by example, such as Dak having a great year. But he does command respect in the huddle, so is that enough. Maybe CeeDee breaks out and becomes the new Michael but without any distractions.

You are correct. This is their best team in decades. I'm very excited. It's time to start the season and enjoy the ride.

This team is different. Enjoy the ride!

I don’t think leadership has anything to do with it. The Cowboys lost a lot of games with Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman before the Cowboys, acquired the right group of players that were committed to being the best. There’s been coaching issues and we never seem to be able to play our best football by December and January. The teams we’ve had in December and January are never as good as the teams we’ve had in October and November. Right when you think the Cowboys might have a special team they lay an egg against a real bad team and begin to sputter out.

You think every team is different. It’s the same song and dance from you. As great as you think the team is going to be, it may end up being a pretty bumpy ride for you. It doesn’t matter what they do during the regular season, it comes down to the playoffs.

Nope, this team is outstanding.

Pro Bowl is popularity contest.

Hass nothing to do with the conversation.
The OP talked about how stacked the team is. I pointed out how stacked the 2007 team was. It does have to do with the conversation. How stacked the Cowboys are, isn’t going to matter if they’re not committed to being the best.

It doesn’t matter, no Cowboys team ever had more Pro Bowlers than the 2007 team. It just made the team more full of themselves.
I think 2007 is a good example of how so many things have to go right to get to a Super Bowl. Our offensive line was considered one of the better ones that year, but in the playoffs, the Giants exposed their lack of movement skills with lots of stunts. Owens suffered a high ankle sprain before the playoffs and wasn't the same in that game. Glenn had just gotten activated and wasn't same. I mean, when Patrick Crayton is your top healthy receiver, that's a concern. And then we made several untimely mistakes.

What 2007 showed is that it’s not how you start it’s how you finish. The Cowboys got worse as the season went on, and the Giants got better. They were going up and we were coming down.

THIS TEAM CAN BE AS STACKED AS IT WANTS TO BE, if we're not making plays, staying healthy, being smart on and off the field, none of this matters

I wouldn't argue against that. The Giants had found their running game, and more importantly, had found their defense. There's a lot that goes into it, though, so I wouldn't boil it down to that. Maybe it's a different outcome if we have a completely healthy Owens. Hard to have your top receiver limited and compete with a team going up. And you certainly can't afford to make the mistakes we did.

100% you are right. . . This team has not had a leader since the 90s. Micah answers to no one. He knows who he is and will not settle for less. . . . From himself or anyone else

Michael was not the only leader. There were multiple leaders

Besides the Cowboys of the 90s, the only other defenses I admired were the Sapp Buccaneers and the Lewis Ravens, those teams had Multiple leaders

In todays day and age of NBA Fast Break NFL . . . only 1 leader of Micah's Level can lead a dominant defense and we are fortunate to have Him
