which if these do we SERIOUSLY have the advantage at? Viewed Impartially

surprisingly, to some, I have to say that it would be quarterback. I base that solely on real in game experience. Im aware of history but if our 40 million Qb can’t significantly outplay a 13 game Qb earning only 900k a year. Dak HAS to be the difference maker

why does the salary matter?…..because of the ability to sign 2-3 solid players more than the team paying 40 million ( on a average).
Secondary. They struggle when they can’t get there. Bland and Gilmore would start for them if they brought them in. Their safeties aren’t great either. Having said that, their LB’s are the best in football and you know about the Dline.

Owned him by all of one score in 2 games.
Dak Prescott has a passer rating of 66.7 with 460 yards, 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in 2 games versus the 49ers in the playoffs in his career.

So if he would just play well, we would win.

Worried about the amount of zone Dak will be seeing.
Notice what gets teams out of it, a short passing game and run game.

2 things we looked to improve from last year. Let’s see if it works!

Prescott was reading more top to bottom, which caused problems with check-downs, something the team has been focused on specifically this year, according to Schottenheimer. This is a good thing mostly, since it means that Prescott knows where to get the ball when trouble arrives. He was flicking it pretty good against the Jets...and he had to do this given their d-line and issues along the Dallas o-line. I think Dallas will have the answer for zone coverage this time around. The running backs should be able to run underneath if Prescott leads them well. I think SF likes to get deep with their coverages (vision defense). As long as Pollard doesn't go out with injury...that "alone" means Prescott will have more options than last time. Adding in a suddenly resurgent Gallup, along with Cooks and Tolbert should give Prescott more potent and reliable options (other than Lamb) than last years playoff game. The KEY issue will be protection up front. Dallas will also need to run the ball even if it isn't particularly effective early.
The Jets game provides some hope. Their defense is heavy zone, as I recall, and their secondary is better than SF’s. In my opinion, Prescott played his best game against the Jets in at least two years. It was also the best game planning performance I’ve seen in at least as long.

This is the game I wish we had Diggs for. That way we can put an extra man in the box for their run game.

I really hope he does.. but I won't hold my breath. Based on facts, I expect him to play poorly.. he's gotta show something.

That guy utilizes his greatest assets. the first is between the ears as the the game is simple for him and he processes defenses like a veteran and the second thing is that he an EXPERIENCED “rookie“ in that the dude has played a TON of games through HS and college. Compare his playing time in total to a guy like Trey Lance.
part of it is also Shanahan and his offense. he took the team to the superbowl with Grapolo, and in two playoff games threw total of 15-20 passes. that's total over two games.

so the system he runs is awsome.

A few things. On paper these groups favor the 49ers for the most part.

But matchups don’t matter because the matchups aren’t facing each other.

Yes, Aiyuk, Deebo, etc is better than our group. But I like our corners better than their corners.

Yes, Bosa, Hargraves, etc is better than our defensive line. But their defensive line against our offensive line(depends on who suits up)? Much closer battle.

As far as salaries go? Throw them out the window. It means nothing. I agree with you that yes we need Dak to outplay Purdy but Purdy is not his salary. He’s probably been a top 3 Quarterback this year. Either he is or isn’t. His matchup with Dak won’t change that but this defense can.

Longtime reporter for the opposition, providing statistics for both teams leading up to the game.
He gives some propers to Dallas being superior over San Francisco in some ways.
A lean toward SF overall...but that's expected. (The Cowboys media analysis will slant toward our team likewise.)
CZers - critique the information provided - but don't get your panties in a bunch over it.

I actually love his approach. He backed up opinions with some real support. I rarely read another team's media stuff. But, maybe I'm missing out. You could tell he's a SF media guy without it feeling like I'm reading the 49ers' version of Spagnola.

We can beat any team…. Having said that. The 49ers are the better team and we do not match up well against them.

Very good read and helps explain why SF has been such a tough match up for Dallas.

They are a good pass rush team that plays zone behind it.
Offensively, they have some elite weapons that best man coverage which Dallas loves.
Deebo, Kittle, CMC are adept at breaking tackles and that is where Dallas can struggle on defense.

Dallas playing the quick passing game and eating off the zone coverage could be a way to frustrate and tire out a SF defense.
But it will take a lot of discipline to do so because penalties and turnovers kill you in that mode.
