How did Gallup drop that TD in endzone?

... I was reminded of it, watching Sounds of the Sidelines.

I mean, Dak could not place that ball any better. It was so crucial in the game.

Sure hope, he picks things up.
A defender crossed in front of him and obscured his vision some by trying to knock down the pass. Gallup's reaction made it appear like he did not expect the ball to get to him cleanly or did not see that it did until it was too late. That's not an excuse, but I believe that was why he did not make the catch.

His body was out of position and it looked like he just kind of threw his arms up at the ball.

He is struggling since coming back (and coincidentally getting paid)

We need more from #13 or we need to move on

yup #20 dean marlowe tried to swipe the ball away in the air while it was getting to Gallup. This probably coupled with some vision obscurity from Gallups standpoint created some hesitancy or disruption. it was an absolute DIME by dak though. should have caught it.

Seriously...how much longer are some of y'all gonna keep asking and hoping for that? Reminds me of those who keep stating that Dak needs to be more accurate. :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

That's how I saw it as well. He let the defender distract him.

During Jerry’s radio interview the other day, he was critical of Gallup. He said that catch in the endzone has to be made. He pretty much admitted Gallup hasn’t looked right since the injury.

….but let me guess….they liked the discount they got after the injury vs how much more they were ready to give him.

Gallups better mentally than say a Jerry Jeudy that is a major locker room cancer.
Just have to have bit more patience with Gallup I believe, the season will progress.

Right. He hasn't had that many targets in two years. But the fact he could be targeted that many times shows he's progressing. Anyone who paid attention before his injury knows what kind of player MG is.

That’s why they re-signed him. Even at a discount they got screwed.

I'm also VERY interested to see Tolbert in this offense. Anyone remember Miles Austin? I'm not saying Tolbert is Austin but remember Austin only cracked the starting lineup by ACCIDENT (injury) and he took off. The point is sometimes sometimes the staff is holding back players in favor of vets in name only. Back to the topic, it was a bad drop but to be fair Dak also overshot him wide open on a post from about the 20 on a separate play. On the play in question, Gallup should have drew a flag. He was being tugged/held and this could have thrown off his timing of the catch in real speed.
