Blitz/press coverage has really affected Purdy

We saw it again last night, the Vikings used the same blueprint and they don't have anywhere near the personnel that the Browns have. Blitz/play man coverage disrupts the 49ers timing passing game. Of coarse it certainly helps without Deebo who is difficult to tackle in space, but the same formula has worked where 49ers just scored 17 points in back to back weeks.

As for the 49er defense. the Vikings were able to run enough to keep them honest and Cousins beat their corners all night long, but something of note, Vikings didn't give up a single sack.

It also doesn’t help that the 49ers were missing Trent Williams and Debo but you are right, Purdy has shown cracks in the armor. You wonder if they took the Cowboys too seriously. You don’t want to play your best game so early.

Broaddus said last week that the Browns were putting one of their safeties in the middle of the field where the crossing routes ran and one back for the deep passes and that Purdy wouldn't even try throwing those crossing routes.

i know quinn seems to prefer zone, but is there a stat showing how much more we go into zone since diggs has been out?

There may be some truth to this but it is easier to worry about a hurt McCaffery, Kittle and Aiyuk as opposed to adding Deebo to that. He’s their toughness and physical threat.

The Cowboys lost that game because of their offense not getting any first downs. Minnesota won because they protected Cousins on passing downs and punished the 49ers secondary. The NFL protects offenses and punish defenses. When offenses get rhythm I don’t care what defenses you are playing you get exposed.

Bottom line is, Purdy is clearly better than any first round pick from last draft not named Stroud. If Carolina were to call the 49ers and offer a straight up trade, Young for Purdy, the 49ers would laugh and hang up the phone.

Purdy played pretty good for much of the game. He was like 11 of 13 in the first half. In the end the Vikings played better and that is why they won. Purdy will have to up his game when things are tough and that is the difference between a bus driver and a top QB. But considering he has not yet started overall one seasons worth of games anyone deciding on what he is are complete football idiots.

We get so afraid they will run on us or short pass to rb that they won’t bring blitzes. If you get in his face he gets uneasy and forces throws. Just like most qbs.

I'm not sure of the stat, but they were playing a ton of man coverage prior to Diggs going down.

Terrible loss, but they can get better as the season progresses in hope they play their best football late.

The Cowboys play more man than any team in the league, or at least did early in the year. Even if they don't lead it, they're still near the top.

Right, as he had some great passes as well. All QB's have some stinker passes. But get pressure on most of them, they will have bad games. We got no pressure on him.
