Throw him out there too early? This his 3rd season. He won’t be playing anyway this season, he’s not the backup. The only way he’ll have any chance of developing is by playing. The longer he’s on the sidelines, the less likely he’ll become a solid NFL QB. If he doesn’t get on the field until 2025 he’ll be stale. The Cowboys may look to trade him by then, because he’s not going to be happy as a backup. He wants another opportunity to be a starter and that won’t likely happen with the Cowboys.

If nothing else this season should confirm the value of QB depth. Been fortunate this year for Dallas but around the league this has been the year of the backup.

by 2025 he’s a free agent though, that’s the issue. Unless you see a total dak collapse and jerry decides to move on which seems very unlikely at this point you’re basically developing lance to try out for another team.

I don’t know I’m looking at the Green Bay quarterback situation. It was nice for him to sit behind Rogers for two seasons.
