What do you think this has to do with anything?

then why are they waiting? Go ahead and cut him a check.

Because he has a 60+ mega million cap hit in 2024. 29 million in base salary alone.

He gets a 5 million roster bonus if he survives the cut in March.

And it's cheaper to cut him.

June 1 cut numbers:
2024 Dead Cap: $25,455,000
2025 Dead Cap: $36,460,000

2024 Cap Savings: $34,000,000

That's 34 mill we can spend on building the roster.
There’s no hurry. It doesn’t matter till next year. But it’s gonna happen.

Trey lance needs a shot now. Put him ahead of Rush and let him play a bit. Need to see what he can do now not the preaseason.
What you think you need to see now is not the concern of the Cowboys. The Cowboys still have a chance to win the division, so unless the Cowboys become mathematically eliminated from that chance why would they sit the starting QB and play the backup, regardless of whether it's Rush or Lance?

It’s coincidentally the name of the guy you responded to
My apology. I assumed incorrectly that you were the guy I had responded to. I haven't been on here for a few days and didn't get my bearings before responding to you.

I'd like to see Lance get some 2023 snap too.

But I dont think thats gonna happen.

Lance is about 2024.

Dak gets one last chance.

What happened the "Cooper Rush Campaign"? Cooper Rush gets no love since Lance reported. There was a crusade to have him as the starter that has completely disappeared on this board. Reality?
I believe Rush is signed through 2024.

I think he gets another deal though.

Dallas loves Rush. But he ain't Lance.

I don't think any of Rush's money is guaranteed. Even though Rush is a much better QB than Lance I think Jerry will demand Lance be #2 and cut or practice squad Rush.

I think you're on to something here. That's pretty much the only way Jerry can save face to justify the Trey Lance trade.

Let's just hope Dak stays healthy behind whatever garbage offensive line they can afford to trot out next year.

Learning the playbook has been a "challenge" for Lance (like it was in SF), and his footwork is still bad after three years of NFL offseason programs, but hey, he's got a great personality.

It's obvious the Cowboys see Lance as the future and possibly as early as next year.

I think they're going back to prioritizing character and decency at the position.

Pretty sure they had him rated as a top 3 personality in 2021.

Everything I have read about the guy indicates that he is a smart guy who works hard. I just don't think he will ever adjust to the speed of the game in the NFL.
