all good news.

Win win for us, if DQ stays, it can be marketed and the hype boys go estatic and if not, we try something fresh next year.

He can for a promotion.
He would most likely be our internal candidate for the DC position. So he would have a choice to make. If DQ gets a HC it would be a multi-year contract.

What would take a 1 year deal in Dallas or a multi year deal somewhere else with DQ.

Then we get 3rd pick?
No. The only way Dallas would be compensated for coaching or GM hire picks would be if someone like Al Harris was hired as a head coach or Will was hired as someone's GM. If another team hires Al Harris as their DC, Dallas wouldn't receive any compensatory picks. Al hasn't had any head coaching interviews, nor do I expect he would get any until he held a position with more responsibility.

He's most likely under contract and cannot leave without permission unless it is interviewing for a promotional job opportunity.
IF he's still under contract......he can leave w/o Jerry's permission for a head coaching job, that's it. He CAN NOT leave for another assistant NFL job unless
* contract is expired
* Jerry lets him out of his contract
* Jerry fires him

I have not seen his contract, but it typically says he can leave for a lateral move without permission. So being promoted to DC would qualify.
