If you pay attention to his Dallas critiques on ESPN over the years, it feels like he's been angling for a job here for awhile.

On Talking Cowboys yesterday Stanbeck was saying he wants Rex Ryan because his defenses were the hardest to prepare for.

This cements it. Ryan is the best man for the job.

JJ would rather sign a famous “name” the fan base has heard of and cause them to have a short stint of excitement than to look for a younger, super-talented, hungry guy no one has heard of.

In essence, Jerry runs this team like a fan. “I’ve heard of that guy”….”He won a Super Bowl, let’s get him”, “He will draw some excitement”….not “Let’s find the best young defensive mind out there regardless of name recognition”.

When your GM is also your primary marketing salesman, it’s a very bad combination for winning. Great for selling, not great for winning championships.

Agreed. Rex went to 2 AFC championship games with Mark Sanchez....who I guess most of us would label as just okay. I'm liking this move more every minute. And yes, I promise to be here if his hiring never works out.

I like. My view is this, we havent done anything in 28 years, what do we have to lose? MM is a lame duck anyway, lets take a gamble and hire Rex, even if its just 1 year. We have nothin to lose. Playing it safe is a bad move if we hire Rivera or Zimmer.

I was about to comment about this. Funny how Stanback was really advocating for Rex to come be the DC and then the next day this comes out. Interesting.
