Let's try to think the way this front office operates (1st rd pick)

This front office doesn't usually draft future starters, they like to target, day 1 plug and play starters. Now with a HC on a one year deal and Jerry coming out and saying this offseason won't be as much for the future, but more improving the team in the present, which positions have an opening?

QB-Dak is expected to be back in some form.
RB-there isn't a back worthy of a 1st rd selection this yr.
WR-strong possibility, where teams usually start 3 receivers. Gallup may not return, Tolbert still remains more of a backup.
TE-Very deep and just used a 2nd rd pick
T-If Tyron Smith is back, they aren't drafting a 1st rd Tackle to sit, but if he doesn't return becomes top need.
G-once again, where is this 1st rd player going to start?
C-strong possibility if they allow Biaz to leave via fa

DE-possible. A lot will depend on how Zimmer is going to use Parsons
3DT-possible. It would depend upon how they feel about Osa

NT-not happening with this franchise in back to back years, but is a need
LB-there isn't a linebacker worthy of a 1st rd selection.
CB-Strong possibility, Zimmer loves 1st rd corners, but will depend on if Gilmore resigns
S-they just resigned both starting safeties

Depends on whether they actually let Zimmer build his defense.....if not, it's anybody guess what this FO will do in the 1st round

I can say I disagree with this to some degree why would they want to?

WR- Agreed, cut gallup, bump tolbert to 3rd and draft a guy
T- Move tyler to tackle like they planned and bump asim as the LG starter. Draft a later round guy to backup or sign a cheap vet.
C- This should be the 1st round target. Centers typically fall as they aren't the sexy pick, if this happens you take one.
DE- Regardless what they do with Parsons they need a DE somewhere in the draft. DLaw is in the final year and Williams only has 2 years left. Need more depth.
LB- Perfect time to draft a guy to compete with LVE in his last year.
CB- Always be drafting CB's. Injuries happen and wright is in the final year of his contract if he even makes the team.

Tyron leaving opens up two possibilities. 1) Drafting an OT in the first. 2 ) Moving Tyler over to LT.

#2 opens up a possibility of an OG at #24.

WR is a good thing to put money on. At minimum it would be the #3 and get a significant amount of snaps

Agree on CB. No Gilmore means a strong possibility. They could also let Gilmore walk and sign a vet like Fulton who they liked in the draft

If Zimmer doesnt like Smith, he may bang the table for Sweat. He has a history of using big DT's. However that doesnt mean they would go in that direction. They could just tell him to make something of Smith. Id say Sweat is a possibility, but a remote one.

My early money would be on a WR or OC at 24. OT entering the fray if Tyron walks

a lot of what happens can be cleared up a bit when these players do their workouts at the combine/pro day

wr is the sexy pick, I think there's so much depth, we can get one in the 2nd or 3rd

They very well could take a WR it is a strong class and one of them might fall. I still don't like that but if it was a serious blue chip true 1st round graded one then it is what it is. Means that Oline is going to be a nightmare to find after the first, there are good ones up high but after that it is pretty sparse.

why? when all this is made up on the fly and the illusion can zig when you zag

why try?

can you provide a reasonable answer?

Generally speaking, the value to be found at 24 would interior OL or off ball LB.

One of the top two centers ought to be there, and if that’s the target, it may even allow for a trade down of a few spots….and to spend Biadasz money elsewhere.

Pretty simple list to me

IF TYRON IS RE-SIGNED
- JPJ, Zach Fraser, Jared Verse

IF TYRON IS NOT RE-SIGNED
-JPJ, Amarius Mims, Tyler Guyton
