They did this when Dak was on his rookie deal…who were they trying to teach a lesson then lol?
Exactly............I mean, I really dont blame Dak here.

He was on a dirt cheap 4th round rookie contract for 4 years and the Cowboys didnt do jack squat with the money to build a championship team around him.

In fact, Dallas has not signed one single AAA free agent since Dak was drafted. (last one was Brandon Carr in 2012).

So, if you are Dak, why the hell should you give the team a hometown discount? The team has not signed one single AAA free agent since you were drafted, so why the hell not demand top dollar???

I definitely blame the Jones boys. If not for the Jones boy’s dedication to Dak, they wouldn’t have wasted years of talent that surrounded the Jason Garrett training project of QBs.

People forget, after the 49ers game, Dak was literally being called trash on live TV. Claiming he had a full MVP season is delusional narrative. MM had to change the offense in the bye, based on input from Dak Quinn and the defense.

People are confusing players and ex-players wanting Dak to get paid with thinking they think he’s an actual MVP QB, Dak getting paid pushes the market upwards for players in general. Also, the narrative in the “press” is driven by brand image as well, meaning agents jobs are to find lackeys in the media to write the narrative to influence negotiations and bottom line for their clients. Guys on TV getting paid by agents and companies that endorse clients is hardly some figment of imagination.

Hasn't dak already made a fortune,or is he still below poverty level,I mean who could survive making 40 mil a year right.
This is not how pro sports works, the Cowboys (or any other team) are not a charity for Dak (or other players) to donate money to.

Did Joe Burrow leave money on the table?
Did Jalen Hurts leave money on the table?
Did Josh Allen leave money on the table?
Did Justin Herbert leave money on the table?
Did Lamar Jackson leave money on the table?

The answer is no...........none of the QBs that have signed new deals recently have given their teams hometown discounts...............so why the hell should Dak give the Cowboys one???

This is embarrassing.
How grown men and women post daily on this circus of a franchise that is most undeserving of any love or emotion.
I am one of those men and yes I am embarrassed.
Jerry can do whatever he wants with Dak and the rest of these overpaid and overrated clowns.
Enough...................... ..........he and there rest of the hillbillies are not worth it!

They knew he wasn't worth top 3 money then cause hes not even a top 10 QB. Same thing here, no difference.
Then why did the Cowboys franchise tag Dak, not once but twice, if they knew he was not a top end QB???

Uhhhhhh Mahomes didn't take less money. Simply restructured his contract to move the money around. Where do you people come up with this nonsense? Every single player is looking for top dollar. No player settles for less unless there isn't a market for them and forced to.
Exactly...............Other than Brady, who are all of these other QBs that have taken hometown discounts and left money on the table out of the goodness of their hearts?

Patrick Mahomes.........No
Jo Burrow.....................No
Josh Allen....................No
Lamar Jackson............No
Jalen Hurts..................No
Justin Herbert..............No

But for some reason Dak is supposed to give the Cowboys a hometown discount???......................Why???

Dak is playing damage control after the GB loss.

"It helps the team and it's important for the (salary cap) numbers,'' he added. "I've heard Jerry say that. It's a process. Both sides understand that.''

https://starlocalmedia.com/sports/d...cle_89a2bb20-f41e-5d47-b40a-4ff929e897b0.html

This is a far cry from, accomplished nothing Dak of 2019, acting like he was the “Chosen One”, though I agreed with his general premise about negotiating for as much as you can, just like any of us do for our careers:

https://syndication.bleacherreport....as-hometown-discount-on-new-contract.amp.html

“For somebody to say you can only take so much because of the salary cap or you can only do this or that, I don’t know how fair that is to say. Because with gambling, with everything going into this league, everything is going to continue to keep going up.

“It’s important for all these guys to get every bit of their worth. I want to see [Ezekiel Elliott] the highest paid. I want to see Amari [Cooper] the highest paid. I want to see myself up there. And I don’t think any of that is too far-fetched. Because at the end of the day, when it’s all said and done, a year or two later, you’re not going to be the highest paid. That’s just the way the game goes.”

Because in Dallas once you are a 'made man' (just like Jason Garrett) --- you got the money for many, many years regardless of performance. There is no such thing in Dallas like competition for the quarterback position. Once you are anointed you are made.

You'd be shocked at how little he'd get. He isn't well respected in the league.
Then why did the Cowboys franchise tag Dak, not once but twice, and then signed him to a mega short-term extension if he would get so little on the open market???

Why didnt they just let Dak walk when his rookie contract expired if he is not any good???

Dak is not teaching them any lesson. The Jones committed a blunder of huge proportions when they went “all in” with Dak in 2016. Just like Garrett, they had a “long term” vision and it has failed them. Last year was year 8 of dumbing down the offense for this QB, only to have to rework it during the bye after the spanking on live TV by the 49ers. And then even that change didn’t do them any favors against good teams and it definitely didn’t work against Shanny disciple coaching in GB, when Dak got absolutely annihalated in the play-offs and was back to throwing pick 6s WHEN PLAYING FROM BEHIND. Remember, the whole off-season was about limiting Dak’s mistakes and him not having to make too many decisions to make it easier for him. That goes out the window once he isn’t playing bums and a defense makes him sit in the pocket to make decisions.

There was no competition in Dallas with Dak, meaning they anointed him and tolerated all his growing pains which continue to this day. Acting like his story-line is the same as Romo, a real case of carrying trash, is comical. Dak never once played a game in Dallas under Garrett calling plays. Daniel Jones has more experience playing under Garrett as a play caller than Dak ever did.

Ok, but how exactly is that Dak's fault if Jerry keeps handing him bags of gold?

If your employer offered you a raise tomorrow, you going to turn it down and tell the company to keep it?

I really want to know who's going to trade for Dak?
Everybody in the NFL knows what Dak has for skills. Against bad defenses Dak excels (when surrounded by talent).
Against tough defenses he fails. Sure he pads his stats in garbage time, but you're still gonna lose. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN.
Sadly we maybe the last team to realize this (Jerry)

Maybe, a 3rd or 4th if we're lucky. Offer him nothing, except your willing to allow him to go elsewhere if he finds somebody.

only lesson learned is you don't go full Ricky Recardo and pay an average QB elite money. Now just cut him take the hit and move on. You lost out to a choker and you can't get the money back.

I know exactly how pro sports work and dak has proven he is not worth a quarter of what he is estimating to be asking for and since when is making 40 mil a year not good enough? And I don't give a **** what the going rate is the guy is not worth 5mil a year let alone 60.

Dak ONLY cares about the money.

Period.

Same for 99% of the league.
This is probably true. The first contract, you can't blame him. But why would anyone on the Cowboys take less knowing how the front office operates? You wouldn't be helping the team, just leaving more money in the owner's pockets. Because their SOP doesn't change.
