Parsons will cost more than dak. We should trade him to the bears for their #9 and second rd pick. They would take it in a second. Could get two top offensive lineman and real dt. Cple that with a lb with our 2nd and rb I’m the third. Then get depth. We be set. But that just makes too much since.
I was getting ready to say that. It would not surprise me if Dallas loses one of either Lamb, Parsons, or Dak.

2024 cap hit for
Jalen Hurts - $13,558,800
A.J. Brown - $12,380,000
Saquan Barkley - $3,905,000
Devonta Smith - $6,400,000
Total - $36,243,800
Eagles push the CAP hits forward into voidable years. I assume that this would catch up to you eventually like it did last year when they had to let Javon Hargrave, CJ Gardner-Johnson, TJ Edwards, Marcus Epps, Kyzir White, and Miles Sanders walk via free agency. That was their leading rusher and Top 5 tacklers from 2022. Howie is not afraid to go all in for a while then suck 1 year due to the salary cap and then go all in again after the 1 year. Here is an example of how he keeps cap hits low when he signs players. Pushing the big cap hits into the future.

Jalen Hurts CAP hits by year

2024 $13.5
2925 $21.7
2026 $31.7
2027 $41.8
2028 $47.1
2029 $97.5

2029 is a voided year where Hurts doesn't have a contract. I'm not sure about the consequences of cutting Hurts if they ever had to.

It does effect the Cowboys though. It's not Daks fault though, its the structure of the contract along with the general philosophy of our front office. Dak is 4 years + 2 void years at $40M per year. Hurts is 5 years + 4 void years at $51M per year. The structure of Daks contract from the start was terrible for the Cowboys. Hurts despite being a larger AAV will never have the cap hit the Cowboys have this year. They'll come close in 2028, but they have plenty of flexibility to move his cap number around. Granted they'll be paying it off for a longer period of time odds are $10M in 2032 is the going rate for a backup QB by then.

Yep. They push the big money into future years and kick the can down the road. Then they either restructure the contract in later years or they'll suck for a year and reload.

That Jalen Hurts contract is really a 5 year deal with an out in 2028 that would cost them roughly $24,000,000 in dead cap space. Not bad considering how much the Salary Cap has gone up every year. They'll easily be able to absorb that $24 Million in 2029 if they don't restructure by then. Jalen will only be 31 years old.

Hate to say it but the Eagles have it figured out.

Their culture was absolutely horrible last season. The GM has been know to curse out the coaches after wins if they run too much. The agendas in Philly are not at all a stable culture. They have a beat reporter who did an entire podcast series on how screwed up they were when they had a 10-1 record.
interesting, when was their last SB? SB win?how many years have the been in playoffs since 2010?

Irrelevant. We were talking about culture. It's a nice buzz word and all but what does it actually mean? Philly is successful despite it. What's our excuse?

They are better at the cap than us
And their QB isn't taking 60 million of it
The current cap responsibility attributed to Dak’s contract, which is four years at $40 million AAV, is by design. It did not have to be this way. Jerry Jones put his franchise in this situation by “borrowing cap space” from Dak’s $40 million per contract. The bill has come due. The issue is not Dak, Micah, or CeeDee. Lots of teams have a number of expensive players and are active considering (at least calling about) and signing free agents to plug holes they know they can’t fill with draft picks. Not only the Eagles. Last year at this time Philly carried $53 million in dead cap. It cost them Edmonds, Sanders, and Hargrave. If you consider that “better”, OK. Philly’s front office is no smarter than any other team’s. Every team has the same max they can spend on player salaries, and the same minimum per the CBA. Philly has whittled their dead cap down to $7 million. They have more wiggle room right now. That’s all.

I just read that Josh Sweat has restructured his contract despite higher offers from other teams? Something isn't right. We can't afford players and Howie signs whoever he wants?

Every team can do it and many do. Dallas being inactive and blaming it on having to watch the cap is a choice.

They know how to manipulate the cap, we do not or refuse to. It's why they've been in two SBs in 6 years and we haven't sniffed one in 27.

What Howie does is basically load cap hits into future years and essentially banks on the cap going up and up to eat up some of that pushed money. Sure, there is a risk there but unlike our two dopes, Roseman tries to be all in every year.
This is true.

With the cap rules in place. You can essentially borrow cap space from future years, interest free.

So why not do it.

The sad thing is....their ayers are taking less to stay there. Our players want to all break the bank to stay here.

Culture.

And also....they know Jerruh is easily bested in any negotiation...so why not fleece him.

it’s not, and doesn’t. hurts has a larger contract than dak. stephen loves guys like you
Take a look at how much dead money Philly has pushed towards the future of that contract. $86.5m is showing as owed after the contract expires in 2027. I imagine that number will continue to rise as the Eagles restructure to free up money over the next couple of years.

Dak is owed $36.5m next season and $11m the following year. Philly is married to Hurts for the foreseeable future, and he looked pretty bad the second half of last season. Dallas can get out from under Dak next season if they choose to, with minimal lasting damage.

They dont toy around with players contracts until the last minute once the price has quadruple. Lamb, Parsons and Dak should've been resign last year.

The Bears would not make that trade, it’s pure fantasy. Also, the dingbats running the Cowboys wouldn’t make it even if the Bears were willing.

They manipulate the cap better than anyone
howie makes big moves every year ! and it never ends lol.
Dallas and the good ol jones boys show their genius by never making any big moves and still be cap poor!

Just be glad they arent running the country or no one would have jobs while they get richer.

The cowboys could make all of the signings the eagles are making….. if they wanted to.

The cowboys cap is the way it is because that’s what Jerry and Stephen want.

Don’t let them off the hook. It’s not “magic”. It’s not the eagles “cheating”. It’s not even Dak.

The cowboys FO is the least aggressive FO in the league.

They don’t have to be aggressive and they don’t have to go for it because they have 100% job security.
