If dak is squeezing Jerry like the first time after his playoff performance, Dallas is playing it perfect. Don't do anything. I'd even consider playing Lance. Worst mistake which we saw first time is he squeezes us for all he can and doesn't deliver in the playoffs again. Florio says dak had a great year but ignores playoffs.

Deer in headlights during playoffs but stone cold killer when contract is up....
How do you figure that ?
4th round pick, played all 4 years, Then Dallas franchised him. Then franchised him again !!!
Then gave him a 4 year deal. Now, they have one year left, and if they don't resign or at least convert his salary to a signing bonus ( which frees up about $29 million )
If I was Dak. I'd walk. He now has all the leverage and a no trade clause - why, because this inept front office played it that way !
No one's fault but the Joneses. All major contracts have these out clauses, conversion clauses.
Dallas trying to get Dak to sign probably for below market value, when they are sitting on a ton of money.
Bet they miraculously find the money to sign Lamb.

Ok so pay Dak 60 mil to sit? Dak has all the leverage.
yup they screwed up years back and cant fix it...not that they even want to..I know alot on here are taking the "No FA's" as a sign of "Dak's gone" but ill just refer them back to the last 10 years and say..Ummm you gonna get tier 3 FA's like always and draft for need AND THEN your gonna get Dak and CD contracts..its literally written in the Jones history books...

They could have 92 million they're not doing anything with it

Why do i feel like our GMs still run the salary cap like its 2000? Between this video and the other Twitter threads showing what they could do with other contracts, almost feels like they dont have a clue how to manage salaries.
They are amateurs.
And they're competing with professional GMs and agents.
Yikes!!!

I don't want to give Florio a view so was hoping for a recap but I can tell you myself:

They stalled on extending Dak in 2020. they thought the pressure would produce better results.
The QB market kept shooting up and they were shocked when Dak had a competent agent saying hey want to be free agents after the new hits in 2025.
All factors they ignored.
So they refused to extend him and franchised tagged.
One of the dumbest moves in the sport because his injury did nothing but prove how valuable he was to the team.
So you gave a top of market deal to a guy coming off major surgery and you did so with zero protection because again you played it into a corner.

I am not even mad at Cowboys fans saying let him play out the season then walk away.
I do wish they were more realistic about what that looked like but the alternative of paying a top 5 QB contract every year until Dak retires also seems pretty awful.

But it is hard to be mad at Dak for being professional when the team was anything but in handling him 2019-2022.

Dallas is not playing this perfectly. 60 mil cap hit this year, and You'll be paying 50 mil for Dak next year even if he's not on the team. If you play lance and he sucks, then you give even more leverage to Dak. Dak is gonna get paid by somebody whether it's here or somewhere else

Not saying i agree with an extension but to make it seem like the joneses have Dak right where they want him just isn't accurate. They are likely gonna cave like they always do...like they did with d-law, zeke, and dak the first time

They don't have him where they want him by any means but I rather eat it than give him what he wants a second time.

Right where you want Dak if you want him off the team. Take the entire cap hit this year and roll with Lance.

Dak got his deal and everything the first time. He hasn't proven if we pay him market value he can carry the team. Jones screwed up the first time. Don't do it a second time by extending him for what he wants.

If Dak was already signed, GM Jeruh would be doing nothing different in free agency. Don't let any of this fool you.

He could easily free up money if he wanted to in other places.

Don't be surprised when Tyron, Rico, Hankins and hopefully Gilmore get resigned.
Agreed. But I'm hoping the extension doesn't come.

You either believe in him or you don't. If you do yes extend him. I don't. I prefer to eat it a year and go a new direction instead of tying myself to him for rest of his career.

We have a GM. We don't have a cap specialist. Roseman of the Eagles is both. He's probably better at managing the cap then GM of the team though. That's the prevailing opinion with their fan base.
Well, Roseman never played or coached football, at any level, in his life. His education included accounting and a law degree. He started with the Eagles as an unpaid intern. He’s probably better at judging value than talent in a player.

Trust me guys, I get it, but I've seen Lance play enough to know the grass isn't always greener on the other side lol

The only move that that makes any sense is do nothing. We don’t need the cap space. Let him play the year out. You can always decide to re-sign him next year if you want but we need to get this dead money off the books or it will be way worse in 4 years when the next contract is up. And on the opposite side if they choose not to re-sign him it won’t be as bad next year.

i just don’t get why people are so panicked over not signing him. It’s the smart move

Dak hate overrides common sense..
They're just chasing their own tails...they are locked and loaded for bear and nothing will change their minds.
It’s not one side or the other of the arguments. It’s both. If people would just actually read a bit instead of replying to a sound bite or half a tweet or a rage bait subject line we’d be able to have better discussions.
