We’ll see what the guaranteed amount is but with 20m with incentives, base is still gonna be really high.

I’ve been a fan, especially last year when he was our best OLine man on a team with Zack and Tyler, but that money is just huge.
ok so what your telling me is when we platoon him he can stay uninjured..again Tyler is a better bet..or i dont know lets not ask our LT to hold 5 second blocks..look for sure LT is important but this fan "Need" for a all pro OL is crazy..its unrealistic..and BTW the 2 times we have had this OL we have been punted out the playoffs because the defense sucked...

Im glad he left
Guy is s top LT and took an extremely team friendly deal
Shame on the Joneses and greedy Dak that have combined to ruin this franchise for its fans

Maybe Dallas is tanking.

No chance to beat the Eagles as of today and the draft isn’t going to plug all the holes. Their best case is be like the Bucs last year and be the 6 or 7 seed.

But who on the schedule is Dallas definitively better than?

Washington - because they don’t have a QB on the roster
Giants - they don’t know what they are.
Saints - they don’t know what they are.
Bucs - mainly because that game is at home
Panthers - who knows if Bryce Young turns into anything
Cleveland - who’s their QB?

Everyone else on the schedule (Pittsburgh on the road, Atlanta with weapons is either a toss up or definitively more talented:

Philly
Ravens
Texans
49ers
Lions
Bengals (with a healthy Burrow)

This is shaping to be an 8-9 or 9-8 season. Which is the worst spot you can be. Not high enough to get great draft picks and not good enough to make any real noise.

Our last 10 third-fifth-round OL drafted.

Asim Richards (fifth)
Matt Waletzko (fifth)
Josh Ball (fourth)
Tyler Biadasz (fourth)
Connor McGovern (third)
Chaz Green (third)
James Marten (third)
David Arkin (fourth)
Robert Brewster (third)
Doug Free (fourth)

3 starters out of 10 and none started their first year more than a few games. Four were complete busts. Jury's out on three.
From 1992 to 1995, Erik Williams, Mark Tuinei, Mark Stepnoski, Nate Newton, Kevin Gogan and Larry Allen were part of some of the best offensive lines to play in NFL history, known as “The Great Wall of Dallas”.

Drafted in what round:

Mark Tuinei: Undrafted: 2× Pro Bowl

Nate Newton: Undrafted: 2× First-team All-Pro, 6× Pro Bowl

Larry Allen: 2nd round: 7× First-team All-Pro, 11× Pro Bowl

Mark Stepnoski: 3rd round: First-team All-Pro, 2× Second-team All-Pro, 5× Pro Bowl

Kevin Gogan: 8th round: Second-team All-Pro, 3× Pro Bowl

Erik Williams: 3rd round: 3× First-team All-Pro, 4× Pro Bowl

Not a single 1st round pick used on the Oline during the late 80s - 90s when the Cowboys won 3 Super Bowls. The difference back then compared to now is the Dallas Cowboys had some of the best Oline coaches and they knew how to draft very good Oline talent during those middle rounds to late/undrafted rounds.

You going back to the 1990s when Jimmy was in charge of personnel? I'm going back our last 10 OL picks in the third through fifth rounds. Three of 10 have made an impact and none made much of an impact their first year. But if you want to live in the 1990s, the last time we were actually good, feel free.

I'm proving a point as to why this team has struggled since 2000. Having a great Oline coach and knowing how to find and draft Oline talent in the mid-to-late rounds matters immensely.

2 gigantic holes on the o-line. I’m sure there will a quality guy available in 3 weeks
If you had watched any of the games last year you would know we only have one hole to fill on the offensive line.

you have a point AC but most here will not understand it..no team has 5 1st round picks as OL and wins..period not in the cap era

But what does that matter now? There's no purpose to proving that point. The evidence shows that we cannot just draft OL in the third through fifth rounds now and expect to find starters. We could do that in the early 1990s, but that was a different team, different time period, etc.
