Maybe the idea is to get Dak to want out?

With the exodus of players and refusal to embrace free agency for help, it is possible that Dak would want to be traded if he sees that next season will be his worst yet.
If he sees that next season will be a rebuild and he could be exposed, he might be enticed to ask to be traded.
Wouldn't that be great?
I think it’s more like poker from both sides. Dak wants a big contract, and the Jones don’t want to give one. And both sides will let it burn in the meantime.

It be great is some of you would want out.
:muttley:
I spent thirteen years being hated while trying to tell people what a mistake Jason Garrett was, and now I am hated for trying to tell people the truth about Dak.
It would be easier if the so-called fans who are really just fans of Dak would want out, but they won't leave until he does.
So, hopefully that day is coming.

Nah above their pay grade.
All they need to do is sell that cap is an issue for Micah and CD and make him a post-June 1st cut.
Trust very few fans (Like here) will revolt at Dak's departure.

No the idea is to save money so they can sign him and MP and CD and then declare a great victory for the team locking up 3 elite players who Jerry drafted, the core players are all signed keeping the core together. Dark days ahead for seasons to come listening to Jerry Dak Stevie MP blaming everyone but themselves as failure after failure repeats.

Jeebus ........ people are desperately searching for the reason behind the Jones's stupidity.

Guys they really just do not know what they are doing, and every few years it snowballs.

No secret plans ......... no genius behind the curtain manipulating the team.

Just dumb billionaires in over their head.

Simple.
BINGO........ These two don't have two brain cells to rub together in the GM/Player Personnel category.

Yeah, but everyone has a price that you would trade them for right?

Everything hypothetical but what if you got a first this year and next, plus a 2nd?

Again, super hypothetical but imagine getting rid of dak and ending up with some high extra picks and just start over with a qb and reciver in the draft, take the dollars saved and use it on other spots…
I would trade Lamb, my first born and a chicken gordita for that haul

The problem isn't the other players. It is what are we going to do with Dak that determines the next 3 to 4 years of this team. I like the guy, but wouldn't be against finding away out of his contract and moving on if we can pull in a full rebuild with stacked picks over the next 2 years.

Rich boy Stevie is playing with Daddy's toys. That's it. There is no plan. As far as Dak goes, he knows he won't win anywhere else, certainly knows he won't face consequences for not winning meaningful games here, has his sponsorships, knows he's gonna get paid again for hanging around the rim...why would he demand a trade??

What a joke. What's the matter, Charlie Brown? You hate 12+ winning seasons 3 times in a row?

Why would he want out when he knows he'll be paid the 2nd highest salary in the NFL.

Our team is totally screwed for years to come. If I was a top player in the NFL, I would not want to play for the Cowboys.

Yep, we are watching live an example of Occam's Razor.

"Between two or more competing theories, precedence should be given to simplicity."

(the simplest explanation with the fewest assumptions is usually the most accurate)

Actually, this one is not hard to figure out. The Cowboys brass has learned that there is something more to these sexual allegations and they are preparing for the possibility that Dak might end up in prison, so they have (not so) quietly shifted to rebuild mode. The only signing they've had so far is basically a coach on the field for Zimmer's defense. Obviously they have not even put up a fight to resign any of their depth players, including letting two of their starting OL players go.

Time to wake up Cowboys fans. This is the new reality.
Here is the problem with that theory.................what if Dak is cleared by the authorities of any wrong doing?

You just gutted your roster for practically no reason.

Now you have a $60 million a year QB with no offensive line or running game...............Do you just say oops, and try to pump up the fans with how good that top 10 pick is going to be?

There's no way Jerry is willing to actually let Dak walk next year. Add that GB showed (along with the deceptive 12-5 record) and we're left in limbo: 2024 or Reset (build around Dak in 2025).

If Dak is going to hit the market and money is his motivation, then triming and resetting the CAP in 2024, so we're in the position to be the highest bidder, is pretty a sensible course of action.

So the simplest explanation is: No agreement can be made (between Jerry/Dak) and taking the CAP hit in 2024 allows Jerry to pay Dak in 2025.
After all, in this Occam's scenario, there's the added advantage of precedence.

Dak isn’t going to leave the comfort of the Jones boys to a new location where he know he’ll get annihilated for his play by fans and media, unless he absolutely has to. No team is going to baby-sit him and try and hide his warts like the Cowboys have done and will do.

He’s built his brand image in Dallas too. He’s not a franchise QB no matter what people. The only reason he’s lasted this long is because he walked into the most ideal scenario from a personnel standpoint and he was on a cheap rookie contract.

Excellent post. There is nothing bizarre or out of the ordinary that the Cowboys are doing. They'll draft, then fill in holes after the draft with what's left. This is what they do every year. Why is this surprising anyone?

And people downplay it yet since he was resigned he has played on good teams over the past three years hence the regular season success but when he was asked to do some of the heavy lifting in the play offs - e.g., the two games against the 49ers he wasn't able to deliver and came up short.
