I do not understand this bs...sorry...i mean assessment. Bears are complete garbage. Put dak on that same team....he'd suck too.

Daks had some challenges...but hes had some good pieces put in place around him. In fact he "won" his nfl career on a stacked team.
Meanwhile fields trying to not get murdered.
Fields just hasn’t shown the ability to be effective throwing the ball. No one doubts his ability to run and he’s fine as a fantasy QB but there has to be more than that to win.

Does he have a team around him?

Yeah but he went there based on a promise he would start.
That's irrelevant to be honest. He went there saying he would start based on who they had before. Now situation is different. Worst case and you are right, he is there for only a year, Fields takes over after.

What is refreshing (and also bittersweet in a lot of ways) is seeing an organization who normally doesn't do these type of moves actually change and do something they are not known to do.....

QB is the toughest position to gage in the draft. Thats why its good to throw some darts in the mid to late rounds every year.

Not great but he should look better than that. Fields is what Lamar Jackson haters pretend Lamar is. Fields is a great runner but his throws are not accurate, they take too long to do, and he is prone to making awful decisions. Basically he is Josh Allen without the arm talent.

If I wasn't a Cowboys fan I would have probably been a Steelers fan.

Thinking of switching.

And this is exactly why he shouldn't be paid the NFL's top $$$ QB. You can get a QB......or his caliber for practically nothing. Hell....I would take Zack Wilson over this turd that likes to fondle girls in the backseat of cars.

I hate to say it but that is a good trade by the Steelers so they went from Pickett and Tribsusky to Wilson and Fields which clearly are upgrades so credit to the Steelers for that
I'm not sure about that. Russ hasnt been too good the past few years. Fields is not a proven QB.

My My ... What was viewed as a great QB class at that very time of the NFL draft... is turning out to be a bust QB class.

I don’t follow. Pittsburgh just landed two QBs for basically nothing. How does that impact Dak at all?
Because Dak has played at a high level and is proven. According, Jerry will not get rid of him and pay whatever it takes to keep him. He dies not want to draft a QB high when 75 percent of those drafted in the first round crash and burn.

2 cheap dart throws at QB are low risk, high reward, potentially. If they are wrong, no big deal, just draft another next year.

exactly. It shows us how guys like Dak get paid what they do. Because the alternatives can be very tough. Thats why the QB pay rate sets the market for guys on the lower tier. They are overpaid as a result. The failure rate is really high because its hard to know if a guy will translate his game to the NFL level. Which is why the Steelers just did what they did. They aint convinced this draft has the next good QB worth taking. Neither am I. It shows you how damn lucky we are we found Dak in rd 4. Nobody knew he was this good, or would be. That is why many NFL coaches think its a good idea to spend a late round pick on a QB every other year, to develop them in the pipeline just in case. I know many think Cooper Rush is a bum, but we found him as an UDFA and he has shown he can at least be serviceable in a pinch. Its not easy. We took a low risk getting Lance and I agree on it. You just never know if the light will suddenly come on given an opportunity.

Gotcha, I disagree with the conclusion but I do see the logic there. I tend to view it completely differently. I see it as Pittsburgh just upgraded their starting QB and landed a 50/50 gamble that they can still develop and really paid nothing to acquire either one. This to me is how more teams should be utilizing their resources. Utilize the cap and early draft capital to upgrade your roster so you're not as dependent upon the QB position.

Steelers hedging on Wilson? If Wilson plays they only give up a 6th for Fields. If Fields winds up the starter maybe they give up a 4th, but that is for a starting QB. In the meantime, Dallas gave up a 4th for Lance who was not even active for 1 game last year. I really hope the Cowboys give Lance some real opportunities in pre-season instead of hiding him like they did last season.
