How could we possibly be better next year?

  • If we defend the run better, we are a better team for the playoffs.
  • If we run the ball better, we are more balanced and a better team for the playoffs.
  • If LT means our pass protection is a little worse, it will be balanced by the threat of a run game.
We are not as good as we could be on paper had we signed another LB, a RB, a DT.
But if we draft a better center and get younger and stronger on the OL, and if we grab a good back in the draft, maybe even another vet RB before or after cutdowns, and if we grab another DT and LB in the draft or FA before the season, I believe we will be a better team. We all identified two issues, running and stopping the run. If those two areas improve, then we will be better off.

Being better:

Clean up the fundamentals and penalties.
Stop the run better.
Score TD in the RZ.
Find some success with easy stuff like the screen game.
Run the ball better and more consistently, especially in aforementioned RZ.

Talent-wise they will need to hit on a few bargain FA and then nail the draft or add guys via trade.
They clearly lost more than they have added in FA but they do that yearly.
Obviously, they start with a plus 2 in Diggs and Overshown being back.
If they trade for 2 more starters?
That would be a start.
Then perhaps actually hit on your first two picks this year???
Duke OL Barton and UT RB Jonathon Brooks would both likely start day 1 and happen to be PFF players 24, 56.
Is brooks going to an injury concern. Didn’t he get hurt and not expected to play till November? With that in mind I’d go be benson

Kendricks is an upgrade.
They might get an upgrade at center.
They might get lucky with the running backs they pick.
They could hit on several draft picks.
They could make another good trade again.

The actually could go farther in the playoffs even if the team isn't as good as the 2023 team.
Maybe Jerry finds a cure for cancer and Stephen negotiates world peace. Anything is possible.

You don't even know what new players we will be adding and how last year's rookies will do. Kendricks is a good linebacker and I think Overshown will be good too.
The only new players we will be adding are draft rookies and scrubs...you know this, right? Overshown and company are all major question marks going into the season, and far from making anybody feel giddy inside. The Jones' have decided to tear down this team, and this has left us with uncertainty. Sure we can hope for the best, but you would have to scream at the top of your lungs to find somebody who feels good about where this team is at, and the lack of direction it's going. We have lame-duck coaches on 1-year contracts and family squabbles, our QB and his contract have/will continue to handcuff this team and its effects are coming full circle. Our ownership has messed this up but good

Scrubs? Last year they added players like Cooks and Gillmore.

Lol I said the same thing after last years FA and draft were over. No upgrades at key positions praying our players play better than they have in the past.

I called them a 1 and done from the very beginning last year. Same thing this year

Seriously. We have acquired no upgrade in talent over last year and we have less talent then last year. 40 percent of our starting O line from last year is gone and we lost our lead back. We have dead man walking as far as a Head Coach and a D Coordinator on a one year contract that was fired from his last job as head coach. We have a new D scheme without the players required to play that new scheme. Lastly, we have a harder schedule then last year and every team in the Division (except perhaps the Eagles who lost two really good players) have gotten better.

PS. Am I missing anything as far as any arrows pointed up?
Dallas Cowboys are not going to be better next year (2024) Dallas is in rebuild mode this year. Jerry forgot to mention that.

Lost via free agency: Tyron Smith, LT (Jets), Tony Pollard, RB (Titans), Tyler Biadasz, C (Commanders), Dorance Armstrong, DE (Commanders), Dante Fowler, DE (Commanders), Neville Gallimore, DT (Dolphins), Noah Igbinoghene, CB (Commanders)

No injury concerns linger. All he had was an ankle injury last season.

He suffered a major ACL but that was versus us in Jan 2023 but he returned and played the season in 8 months.
That is why SEA declined his 5th year option but he was on the field playing opening day.

And he rehabs here in Dallas in the off-season.

He had another 100-tackle season and missed only one game.
He is 26 and has 516 career tackles. And once led the league in solo tackles.

He would be a 20M backer had he not suffered that ACL.

Doubt brooks would play much next season if at all.
Where are you getting that from?
Brooks has played 64 game sin 4 seasons.
He returned from an ACL in 8 months and played through a severe high ankle sprain missing only 1 game.
He just passed a Dolphins physical.

oops, who is our RB 1? Who is our RB 2? Who is our LT? Who do we have at LB we can count on besides our recent Vet signing? What will be at RT after Steele's disaster last year? Will Diggs be healthy? Overshown healthy? We had a chance to add players and that was an epic fail. We went into this past season

That's last year my friend when the vision was a ring. This year the vision is cost-cutting and damage control unfortunately.

Didn't brooks from UT tear his acl in November? He could be back but I wouldn't count on him starting. I wouldn't wanna use a premium pick on a rb that had 2 acl tears already anyway.

Deal with the long simmering division amongst the players. Clearly this issue needs addressing. Every player needs to be in the same accord going forward.

Don't worry at all.

It will be Dak's fault.

Duece Vaughn is a nice feel-good story, but should not be taking up a roster place.
Where has Deuce Vaughn been given touches to see how he doesn't belong or have a role on this team? I pull for him but first I need to see more body of work before I say no way he belongs. Dude is little but has some talent. He was drafted him late so might as well take a forensic look his way before 86'ing him. It is either he has a role or he is gone I would think.
