If you aren't going to win 10 games anyway, then why the hell would you let Dak play out the year, take on like $40MM of dead money in 2025 and only have a 3rd round comp pick to show for it? Oh and then you have to waste 2025 wondering if Lance can play QB or if you have to draft one. If they are rebuilding and they let Dak play out the year, they are literally just wasting an entire season.

He can do that while still seeking out a trade. If he's traded he could also negotiate a big extension with that team. Or, he could just walk after the 2024 season and open himself up to the entire market.

There's little chance his agent/manager would want him playing on the 2024 Cowboys if the plan was to just throw away the season and suck next year.

Jerry could release Dak and eat all the cap this year. Jerry would have no QB. I think Dak will QB this team this year so Jerry can make his money. My guess is that all their older guys are going to be gone next season and only draft picks and young guys will play in 2025. Lots of high draft picks on the horizon. Most likely, Jerry is hedging his bets here being the fool he is. He can't totally commit to a rebuild because he can't stomach a bad season, so in his eyes if he lets Dak play out 2024 maybe just maybe we still win enough games, make the playoffs and go on a run. We won't but Jerry is too stubborn to admit reality.

But which team is available and interested in paying him the $29m to offset the salary we'd be paying him....and a team that Dak will agree to join? I presume he'd want a contender.

Well they aren't 'drafting' a DT to replace Hankins/or fits as a Zimmer type DT....unless we go Sweat in the 1st, which we won't.

This is the problem. They need C, OT, LB, Edge and DT. LB can probably wait until round 2, but my guess is they will draft a LB in 3 or 5. I am still betting they draft Edge in round 1, OT in round 2, C in round 3. If you think we fans are frustrated now, I think the draft will send us over the edge, no pun intended.

Hankins is no different than Jason Peters these guys come and go they're on the last legs of their careers they are not special and they are replaceable there's gonna be another guy like him could be coleus Campbell or somebody else out there in free agency that we will get before the season starts to fill his place the Cowboys will wait till after the draft to see where they'll need to go with the rest of the free agent pool to get a guy like hankins..

This roster will be built before game one and they will fill those holes that everyone keeps saying we're gonna tank and they're ridiculous when's the last time Jerry Jones allowed his team to be bad on purpose not even in 2020 they went three and one down the stretch and probably got worse draft picks they do not take Jerry Jones will not purposely put a bad team together and eat money over a lame duck coach yes I'm reading all your stuff this is to all of you...​

If you calm down you'd realize we're only one week into free agency it's ridiculous that you think everybody else's roster is built and all our futures are set and the only teams that are gonna be standing at the end of the year in the final four are the ones that were aggressive the first week and that nobody else has big holes to fill with the rest of the free agent pool the draft and trades and all the above there will be a lot of things happen before game one and yet one weekend everybody's always saying we're tanking everybody always says that this team's gonna be bad because they historically bad off seasons and yet 36 wins two division titles and three straight playoff appeared to say they will find a way to build a roster that's not complete in the first week of free agency....​

So let's calm down people,.... relax , literally this process is only one week in mini teams even Buffalo I even look at the Ravens haven't even built their offensive line again there are a lot of good teams that lost a lot of good players that have to rebuild their team and they didn't do it in the first week.... So can we not act like the sky has fallen and the season is already a disaster one week into free agency we're not even at the draft yet you all do this every year and it's getting worse one week we're seven days in the free agency... Somehow you all think it's over that there's no way to build a roster with the hundreds of players who are still out there and who are still on teams who are yet to be cut who will or be traded there are lots of moves there are more than just the first week of the higher price free agency that bills rosters there are 53 players on every team and they don't all come from the first week of free agency....​

It is different this year despite what some in the media and in the organization will tell you. Every year we all say the same thing. We have to run the ball and stop the run to get to where we want to be. And we have actually regressed in both areas as of now. There is no way Zimmer took the lame duck job without mentioning that I need my LBs and my DTs to be "this size " to be able to fix the problem. Maybe he only saw Kendricks a s a fit in FA. Who knows But late camp cuts aren't going to solve the problem. You aren't going to hit on all draft picks. Your starters are getting worse. Your back-ups are worse. You still have dead money. And you still need to find long term replacements for Martin and Lawrence and maybe Dak. And you cant do half of that without FA and /or trades.

You can tell Dak and his agent to seek out a trade. If Dak knows that Jerry intends to basically tank the 2024 season, it's more than likely that if he and his agent get to work the trade destination, he'd consider a move out.

Certainly some do, myself I am not a pessimist when it comes to the team. I’ve defended the team and dak countless times over the years but I don’t agree this is the same as every year nor do I think they have handled this right so far.

The mentality from the front office is in regards to free agency is the same but they’ve let a ton of their own guys go combined with being inactive in free agency, usually they bring back their own guys.

He could likely move Dak for some picks, load up on draft capital, play Lance and see if he's salvageable, etc.

They also feel that guys from last year's draft will move up and provide a role.Guys that we haven't seen like Fehoko, Scott, and Richards. They should get some improvement from Schoonmaker, M. Smith, Luepke, and Bass. Overshown has a lot of upside. I think we are going to see a lot out of that so-called bad draft.
