I wholeheartedly believe this absolutely is a tank season.

There is no way they are down something like 7 starters, all lame duck coaches and do nothing and expect to be competitive.
Exactly........there is no way in hell anybody can tell Beast with a straight face this team is going "All-In" trying to make a SB run this season.

We are going to have like 7-8 starters that will either be rookies or dirt-cheap vets on 1 yr deals and this is what they think making a bowl run looks like?

This is either a "quiet tank job" or this organization is the most incompetent pro sports team I have ever seen if they actually are trying to win.

This!!!!

We all loved having a fire hydrant type player. but he was injury prone and not great
Hankins may not have been great, but he was a hell of a lot better than our new starter Mazi.

Its like somebody telling you that your car needs a tune up and a new set of tires................if your other option is riding a bicycle, your car is not that bad of an option.

It's not his last season of his rookie contract. Lance still has the option 5th year. Plus, any team who were willing to trade for him would obviously offer him a long-term contract after this year.
The Cowboys declined to pick up the 5th year option on Lance, it was around $20 million.

Both Dak and Lance will be unrestricted free agents at the end of this season unless either sign a new extension.

Lol, will they make some trades yes or no?
What if they dont?

What if they think they can replace 8 starters with just the draft and dirt-cheap vets that get released when teams trim their rosters down.

You still think this team, as currently constructed, is winning 12 games and getting a 1 or 2 seed?

Serious question, not being snarky, really interested in what your opinion is if "what we see is what we get" is the play here.

lol How in the world did they talk Zimmer into taking this DC position? I know he didn't have lots of teams knocking his door down to hire him, but coming in on a 1 year contract with this bare defense seems like career suicide. lol
Dude must be desperate for a check............like in debt to the mafia or something:laugh:

Jerry told ya'll that he was going all in. He is...he is going to blow up this team and remake it in a couple of years. He needs to unload some contracts and over the hill players this year and tank for this year and next. Then he will get some top draft choices to retool. FO is going to find out if any of their youngsters can play at the NFL level this year.

They surely must be just blowing it up. There's no way we can be competitive this year that I can see with all the players we're losing.
Not sure if it's 'blowing it up', but we're certainly not going spend over the minimum for a roster that the FO doesnt think is capable of the ultimate SB or even going deep in the play-offs. We could find better value (and or players we want, and will extend) at the deadline. Or we reset for 2025, of which will be the start of the CeeDee (poss. Dak) new contracts.....and indeed we're in a comparatively better CAP position (for us and in relation to the rest of the league).

Based on the current roster, I wish we had Hankins as a safety net.
Based on the way he was washed down the line vs SF, Buf, and GB last season, reality says no big deal.

Looks like the Cowboys are keeping all their young, healthy, productive players and moving on from older, fading, or injured players.

If Hankins is gone and one DT drafted, younger guys will see more play time. There is still the draft. There are still trades to be made, including 2025 draft picks for 2024 picks. Next year is supposed to be a very poor draft year. There are still free agents coming after the draft. For every position player drafted, there is usually a position player who will be released, a player who was still good enough to be on an active NFL roster. And there is always the UDFA players, which Dallas has always been good at utilizing.

It‘s a little scary, but I would still argue that the only player we have lost who could have been a successful contributor to being a top team was Pollard, and we had all come to the conclusion that he wasn’t the RB1.

Time will tell if the Jones boys are truly clowns or if they have done a soft reset regarding roster philosophy. This whole moving on from aging, injured, questionable players whose price tags outweigh their contributions sounds like Jimmy or someone has their ear.

It says in the tweet we wanted to keep him but Seahawks paid more.

Nothing new for the Cowboys, just being cheap.
I don't know what the hawks offered him but it's all about the money. Hankins is just doing what is best for his bank account. Can't really blame him.

Hankins is a pretty definitive indication that we have no interest in concentrating on 2024. Even a couple of million over min.vet. wouldn't have killed the CAP moving forward.
This is a statement of (lack of) intent,as you say a soft reset. We may review this at the trading deadline, especially if we can find out someone that we like and can trade and extend.....but yep would prefer that to be under a professional GM...not named Jones.
