What in the world is going on with this front office?

I am a bit surprised they haven't gotten a deal done with Lamb yet.

It feels like they are waiting until free agency is over before they restructure people that can free up CAP room.
Perhaps CeeDee’s agent is waiting for Jefferson to come to terms with Minnesota before agreeing to terms with the Cowboys.

Truth is, we weren’t fit for prime time when the lights went on. I think we all saw that as the season wore on. I do blame some key injuries, but everybody has them, so it isn’t an excuse. Who from that list stood out as must have backs? A few I liked, but are those guys really moving the needle? Probably not. Only thing I’m mad about is how little draft capital we have to restock.

Yep. I think this is exactly what they are thinking. The holes they have they probably feel they can replace them with draft picks. That's gonna be their sell. And I don't care what rap they sell I believe they move Tyler to LT and draft a guard in the later rounds. This is what they've done for the past 10 years not sure why people think this is any different.
The sell is they have 3 top 20 NFL football players that are up for contracts. No other team has two superstars under 25 and an All-Pro quarterback. They believe with the return of Diggs the team will be ok.

Only 5 starters need to be replaced rn. Diggs return makes up for Gilmore.

Hankins is being replaced by Mazi most likely.

DA is being replaced by Sam Williams.

Offensive replacements are more questionable but I’m pretty sure Tyler moves to LT.

My speculation is that our 1st round pick starts at C or LG. I think our 2nd or 3rd pick will start at RB sharing time with Rico.
Gilmore made some plays for us last season. He batted a pass away to a wide open Washington receiver in week 18 on their opening drive that would have been a TD. That would have led to a bad start in a game we needed. Lucky we had Gilmore to help make up for the loss of Diggs. It could take him a full season or more to return to form from his ACL. Mazi replacing Hankins is troubling because Hankins was a much better player. I have little faith in Mazi. As for Sam Williams he’s been somewhat of a disappointment. He reminds me of Randy Gregory. He commits more boneheaded penalties than makes good plays and he’s had off the field issues.

All three contracts will take time because they will be record breaking.
That's why I think it's unrealistic to sign all these and field a winner because the rest of the team will be young unproven guys, placing a lot of pressure on the drafts. They probably should let, at least, one go preferably in a trade for a plentiful return.

The front office is indeed clueless, but that doesn't mean they aren't playing the Dak situation exactly as they should. Do not extend him this year. There is no benefit. Sign him next year or move on, but they must start shedding some of his cap hit. They can sign all the free agents they want without touching Dak's contract
They can lose him for nothing instead of kick starting a rebuild. If they decided to extend him, they could of use the extra funds to sign some players

The plan is the same as always….overpay for the three juhrsuh sailers, fill in the rest with draft picks and vets who are cooked to the point where they are cheap enough.

Have gaping holes in the roster that kill the season.

Be honest, when was the last time that wasn’t the plan or how it actually went?

Sorry to break it to you my friend. But the FO is inept and on top of it, they don’t give a crap about winning. So if you are expecting them to show signs of competency, don’t hold your breath
You know....I didn't start believing that until this offseason. I don't think winning is the Joneses #1 priority. Their brand seems to be more important.

First, they either have to extend Dak or trade him before the draft. They cannot trade or franchise him after this season. Worst case scenario, he departs via fa next offseason and the team has nothing to show for it outside of shedding is contract.
They have said they will work on at camp. If he departs we will easily get a 3rd comp pick

They already have less draft picks this year due to the Lance trade, where do they expect to replace these players?
With post June 1 cuts, UDFAs, players otherwise released

Maybe stop resigning average players on your team like a Malik Hooker for example
Which is it, they do what they are doing, not signing FA, or sign FA?

Not nothing. They get a 3rd round comp pick if they don’t re-sign him and he leaves. Also and more importantly they get another season of playing him and finding a replacement as compared to trading or cutting him and playing Rush or Lance. If you trade him you lose him now. You can’t designate a trade post 6/1 so would have to wait to trade him or take all the dead money now And most teams have a QB plan by then. but a team that drafts one may still give us a nice return and choose to play Dak for a year and a team that fails to secure one in the draft may give us a good return.

I have no issue with trading him. My issue is with extending him now. People keep saying we have to do it, but it’s still a dumb choice at worst and questionable at best. Again, we don’t need to rework Dak’s deal to be able to sign 2 or 3 nice free agents or really anyone we want…if the team even wants to. It’s been said many times on here how much we can clear by restructuring other players

I am not one to overreact or make quick judgement, but what in the world is our front office trying to accomplish this offseason and why is MM and the rest of the coaching staff allowing it to happen?

-First, they either have to extend Dak or trade him before the draft. They cannot trade or franchise him after this season. Worst case scenario, he departs via fa next offseason and the team has nothing to show for it outside of shedding is contract.

-I understand their free agent philosophy, but how many starters have they already lost, without replacing any of them except Lve with Kendricks? Pollard, Biaz, Tyron, Armstrong, Hankins, Gilmore. That's 6 starters, with zero replacements. They already have less draft picks this year due to the Lance trade, where do they expect to replace these players?

-I have heard enough about them crying about needing to resign Lamb/Parsons. They have plenty of cap space and have the ability to create space as much as possible. Just look at the Eagles, they keep on spending even after Hurts was extended. Maybe stop resigning average players on your team like a Malik Hooker for example. Giving Zack Martin that extension at his age was insane.
If you were the GM...

1. What would you do if Dak's agent is asking for 100M per season?

2. What if you don't sign Dak now and he has a repeat playoff performance to this past playoff game and then the agent lowers the price to 50M per?

Who replaces diggs when he doesn't have confidence in his previous injury. What will we do if Mazi is worse than last year

It's pretty clear they believe their window closed last year. They keep saying they are going to extend Dak, but this is the first time I'm not sure if they mean it. I mean Jerry is too old for a complete rebuild -- it wouldn't shock me to see them sell the team after next year and they are just absorbing the worst of the Dak contract now so that the team is more sellable. Also wouldn't shock me to see them take another mid-round QB this draft.
Dreaming is free.

That's exactly how it works. At best we'll have roughly the same team as last year, talent wise, but with a much tougher schedule.

If his agent wants him to be the highest paid, will tell him that isn’t going to happen here as his client has shown he is worth that type of money with his poor playoff performances.

If Dak has the same success, don’t care if his agent lowers the price, it’s time to move on to someone else

Which would you rather have multiple 1st rd picks or a 3rd rd comp? I think we have seen enough evidence that Dak isn’t that clutch qb in the playoffs we need. This is coming from a Dak supporter.
