What we need is a smart center that recognizes defensive sets and get the line on the same page like we had in Travis.
Fredbeard was a generational talent at Center; you just do not stumble on them very often.

I think Dallas needs to draft a starting LT in round 1; moving Tyler to LT would mean two new starters at LG and C playing side-by-side, so he should stay put for that reason, moreover, Tyler was an All Pro at LG this past season. I think Dallas needs as much continuity on the offensive line as possible.
I don’t know that back-up OL like Bass and Hoffman are the answer; it’s hard to evaluate their play on a sporadic basis; so does Dallas really think they are ready to start.
As an aside, I’m hoping the Cowboys sign some FAs because there are weaknesses at OL, DL, LB and RB. I think Cooks can be a #2 despite his numbers last season; he was practically ignored before the loss to SF; he still has speed and can stretch the field.

:clap:Don't understand the thinking of moving Tyler to LT. He's an ALL-Pro LG like you said. Moving him to LT creates another question mark......how good will he be? We KNOW he's a damn good LG. Moving him creates three questions ( LT, LG and C ) on the OLine. Something else also, if you leave Tyler at LG, I'm not sure you need a blue chip center coz he playing between TWO ALL-Pro guards ( Martin and Tyler ). He should have plenty of help......

In fact, per PFF, he finished the season with the highest grade among LGs

Just me........but draft your future LT

Stephen didn't rule out moving him but was clear it's something they would prefer not to do.

IMO we are going to draft either Mims or Latham in round 1 and plug whoever we select into the left guard spot while kicking smith back out to left tackle. Center will be a battle between Bass and Hoffman. Hoffman is neither as bad as some seem to think nor is he as good as some think. Decent back up IMO. I could easily see TJ Bass ending up as our starting center next season and being and dang good one.

The Cowboys 2023 game with the most rushing yards was the game that Hoffman started at Center.

The RG in that game was Bass (Martin out).

Hoffman's other start was at OG. That was the 6th best game with regards to rushing yards.
I also remember how good they looked in game against Washington although definitely not fair game to use with it being a garbage game for them. Definitely optimistic though. It’s OT I’m more worried about.

I think the Cowboys offensive line would be okay with Bass at LG and Hoffman at C. Top 5? No, but good enough. Of course we need more out of Steele. I would be more concerned with Tyler Smith at LT. But I'd be willing to take a shot with him there.

The problem with this lineup is going to be depth. Ball looked okay at RG last year but that guys is hurt all the time. Asim Richards looked like he might develop into a decent OT. But who is the backup C? They need to find depth.

I am way more concerned about the defensive front 7. Can we depend on Sam Williams to not make too many mental mistakes? Who is his backup? Who is backing up DLaw? And what about DT? Is Mazi going to improve enough in one year? Is Golston really a decent backup DT? We are just so think on defense other than safety now.

CB is a bigger need than many think. Cant rule that out in rd 1. Nate Wiggins and TJ Tampa have been talking to the team alot. Diggs might not be himself in 2024. PLUS we need dbs.
You have Lewis, Diggs, Bland…..Eric Scott…doesn’t seem like a high priority.

Mims and Guyton could be in play. But unless they have a plan to somehow get them on the field in year 1, I don’t see them taking a player to redshirt them their rookie year.

Not convinced. Too small a sample size to be worth serious consideration.

Hoffman was undrafted for a reason

I can see him developing as a good backup but not as a quality starter better than Biadasz which is what we need
Same,,, I'm all for giving Bass a shot just like with any position but this team needs to take the center of the OL freaking seriously and draft a quality OC/OG,,, first round, let them duke it out in TC.
