From a value stand point Trance trade does hit the top 20.

But from any logical stand point it is number 1. It never had a chance from the first second the trade was made.
Kind of like Dak going deep into the playoffs eh??

A 4th round pick throwaway is not a top 20 scratcher given how many dumb things Jerry has done to the Cowboys. Maybe Top 30 but we don't know the definitive outcome yet either

..yep, it was really weird in the least. Might have been just for show. Since they have money to throw away.
GM Jethro somehow thought it was going to create leverage with Dak.

Dak will be calling his bluff. He has already said publicly he is willing to play out the year and see what happens next.

GM Jethro needs to fold his hand, because he does not have one. He needs to do what the Niners did, admit he screwed up and trade Trance for a 7th round pick. Save the $5M.

the point is after 3 years in the league, you know a lot more than what he has done in college and what he is capable of. there is more evidence in the NFL, which takes the guessing away.
At this point, there is no upside except for wishful thinking. the probability of success is 10%. and thus everyone is banking on 10%.
Very fair points, but isn't two years of control of a QB with a 10% probability of success worth a back half of the 4th round pick?

To be honest I think it's too late for that. I put myself in Daks shoes and I see no reason to sign an extension with the Cowboys this year. They let him get this close to free agency I have to believe he takes it.

If I am Dak, I am not sure if I would even want to resign with Dallas. I would definitely want to know what my other options are before making that decision.

We paid the most for the QB who has done the least from that ‘21 draft.

Cowboys gave up a 4th round pick.

Tampa used a 2nd round pick on Kyle Trask. Who's Kyle Trask you ask? Exactly ...

Minnesota used a 3rd rounder on Kellen Mond, and New Orleans used a 4th rounder on Ian Book.

And none of them were ever named a starter (Lance was going into 2022) or had an injury that cost them14 games.

I'm not saying Lance was a great pick up, but let's not exaggerate.

Phenom who is battling for QB 2, in his 4th season.
And he's still only just 24. Young as a couple of the QBs coming out Thursday. He may not pan out but at least he is not a 30 yr old guy who wants $60 million and reached his ceiling a long time ago..

Trance did not earn the starting job. He was anointed. Then sacrificed to the Cowboys.

They went all in last year

Cooks Gilmore and Lance

Mazi and Vander Esche were supposed to stuff the run. Both were injured

Schoonmaker was going to team up with Martin and Steele on the right side and blow open some big running lanes. Steele and Schoonmaker were injured.

Diggs Gilmore and Bland were going to shut down the passing games. Diggs was injured

Overshown was to breathe new life into the line backing core. He was injured.

Lamb. Cooks and Gallup were to light it up. Gallup was a shell of himself.

Even brought in a backup in case Dak missed time

Was a decent plan. Didn’t work.
LOL. Cooks and Gilmore were aging stopgaps. Lance a bust who was never active. Gallup hasn’t been the same since his injury. They actually counted on LVE to stay healthy and for Mazi to be a major factor?

This year I guess we are going to have big plans for all of our draft picks too. Hopefully more will be on the active list on game days than we had last year.

If this was all in, we should never go all in ever again.

You're wrong. The 49ers named Lance the starting QB going into the 2022 season even though they still had Garoppolo. Lance lost the starting job because he had a season ending injury in the 1st quarter of the second game, which eventually opened the door for Brock Purdy after Garoppolo also got hurt during the season

well, 50/50. some of out picks from 4th round
Fehoko
Ferguson
Gholston
Robinson
Michael Jackson
Armstrong
Schultz
Switzer
Prescott
Wilson

so its 10% chance hitting on a good QB (lets face it, that's all he is going to be, I doubt if he is elite because if he was, by now everyone would know).

or more 50% chance of hitting on some good starters.

What? The same way Dak got HIS job?
