I’m not sure what’s so bad about this signing. The offensive line being shored up in the draft is more crucial than ruing this cheap pickup for significance in short yardage situations.

Archer spewing nonsense.

A good GM reads the room. They knew this was a weak running back draft. They know they are clearly lacking with their current room. They knew there was a decent chance the few backs they might have liked may not reach them in the draft. Therefore, they should have been forward thinking and look for a short term fix in free agency. There were several guys available who didn't cost a ton who would put us in a much better position that we are in now.

I haven't seen this put up.

I still think this is a reset year. The team isn't really trying to compete. They aren't going to admit it because they still want fans in attendance. Zeke signing is more of a PR move than a football move. IMO, the team is going to have a bad year and you will see McCarthy, maybe Dak and others go away allowing for things to move forward in 2025.

Look at the draft. Guyton is a project. Beebe is either a project at center or Martin's replacement. Kneeland is Tank's replacement. This was a forward looking draft, not a win now one.

It isn't bad. A 1 year deal and they can draft a back next year.

Doubt it. Jerry and Stephen are so arrogant that they think they have the secret formula. They certainly don't think this is a reset year.

$3 million and $2 million guaranteed?

Would it have broken the bank just to cough up a little more for Derrick Henry or Aaron Jones? Big power backs who have run for several 100 yard games in the last 2 years while Zeke hasn’t since 2021.

Henry was getting $4.5 mIllion guaranteed per year in 2 year contract. Aaron Jones had one year contract with $4 million guaranteed.

Thats all that matters. Rest is just paper numbers if you cut them.

Good thoughts. I agree...there were options available in FA that did not break the bank. I am not even a fan of big second contracts for running backs but there were guys out there at reasonable numbers. It just crazy this team knew it was a weak running back draft and they didn't even try to be proactive.
