We don't hate Zeke, we hate the move by the front office. They decided to move from him a year ago due to low productivity, bet on Pollard didn't workout and now back to the low productivity back.
No, they do hate Zeke, as they hate every thing and every player about this team.

In a vacuum, adding Zeke as a low cost 2nd RB is fine. It's the gaping hole at RB1 that is concerning.

Zeke can probably be 85-90% of the player he was when healthy in 2022. The problem is you're not going to find anything close to a 2022 healthy Tony Pollard on the scrap heap, even if a RB from another team gets released.

This is all Jerry and his fan eyes for Zeke.

After the team was embarrassed enough by getting blown out by GB, they turn around and bring back Zeke?
Pretty mind blowing. Your QB can’t handle pressure, so let’s team him up with his ex girlfriend who’s longest run on the season will probably be 15 yards. Brilliant maneuver. Got the rest of the league right where you want them!

I’m excited for zeke to be back it’s a nice consolation prize for a horrible offseason and an average team heading into the season. I think the draft could be really bad or really good

Couple points:

  • We don't need Zeke as 1st option, like 2016 and 2017.
  • We need someone punch it in on 3rd and goal or keep the chains moving to close out games.
  • Zeke as a pass protector is still top notch.
  • With the year CeeDee just put in, I dare teams to stack the box. So Zeke should have some running room.
  • 1-year deal. They'll likely draft a 2nd day RB in next year's draft (so far they have ~11 picks).
  • If he don't have it, they'll cut him again
  • He should bring leadership to the team and specifically to the RB room.
I'm good with bringing him home.

This is what you get when you don't know how to draft. Horrible move....and just goes to show Wil McClay can't put a team together.

Singing Zeke IS managerial dysfunction
....and the Board will forget it is managerial dysfunction. Get ready. The current 2024 season Fall Guy early nominees are Dak, Zeke, Terrence Steele, and Dak and Zeke again, on the offensive side.

A good GM reads the room. They knew this was a weak running back draft. They know they are clearly lacking with their current room. They knew there was a decent chance the few backs they might have liked may not reach them in the draft. Therefore, they should have been forward thinking and look for a short term fix in free agency. There were several guys available who didn't cost a ton who would put us in a much better position that we are in now.

It isn't bad. A 1 year deal and they can draft a back next year.
When the draft class is better. Ohio State has two running backs that would have been taken before Jonathan Brooks if they came out of school.

This signing is Jerry not being able to let go of the past.

This only makes sense to me if Dallas has a young guy already on the roster.

This feels like when Witten was brought back.

Certainly not a game changing, put us over the top signing but it's not worth crying about either. There is value there for the money he is getting. RB will not be the single biggest reason this team is not a top tier contender this season. A veteran placeholder who does have some tangible benefits for the team is not the worst case scenario for a team going through the fundamental roster retool as this team is doing.

Do it your way Jerry, and be successful. The 'Bus' took the Steelers to a trophy when he was brought back at their end and made it work.
I cannot read all 7 pages in this thread....you are of course joking, rignt?

Can we finally now all agree that 2024 season is a soft reboot?

This is a final nail in the coffin and I couldn't be happier about it......it's because it's a 180 degree change in how they've been doing things.

The first part is cleaning house of overpaid rubbish, and the 2nd part is making correct aquisitions.....the first part is merely beginning
You’re trying to convince yourself of this and you give Jerry too much credit.
