The Eagles Cap technique?

Nothing? They did beat the Rams, Lions, and Eagles. They did more than most of the league.
And then as the 2 seed got blown out at home. A common theme. So yeah, they really didn't do anything impressive last year.

I get it. You struggle to admit their failures because it makes you sad and want to cry. But anyone who keeps referring to regular season success ignoring the fact they have been one of the worst postseason teams for like 25+ years is just a blind homer.

LOL. Anything to give this FO credit eh?

If the eagles dont lose 6 games in a row. Do the Cowboys win the division?

The answer is no. If you are wondering.

You know what he means. You are easily one of the most disingenuous posters on this board.
I know, people like that say things. They aren't exactly factual. The Cowboys plan is to draft and develop which they have been pretty good at. This year they let some players leave and are getting younger while still putting up a lot of wins.

They failed at linebacker. They got caught short. They failed.

The Eagles have $37 million in dead money on their CAP this year. But you know what? They do not have a single player on their roster whose CAP number is over $16 million in 2024. So despite the high amount of dead money, they are still $23 million under the CAP.

The team that boggles the mind when it comes to the CAP is the Saints. They were $65 million over the CAP going into 2023 and managed to get under okay. They were over $80 million over the CAP going into 2024 and got under. They are projected to be $84 million over the CAP in 2025 again. Despite their CAP situation they managed to challenge for a wild card spot last year, and they dabbled in free agency this year. There are two ways to play this game. One is to push money into voided years for some players and prepare to eat that money when the time comes. The other is to not push money into future years so there are always ways to cut players and get under the CAP.

And by the way, The Cowboys could create CAP space now but extending CeeDee Lamb. They could do a few other things to ease the CAP situations as well, but they are choosing not to - probably so they can use the CAP as an excuse for not being aggressive in the off-season.

I love how you make it seem the Cowboys won the division based on the quality of the team.

The Eagles imploded. Nothing the Cowboys did other than beat up on sub .500 teams won them the division more than the Eagles messing up.
The imploded to lose 5 of their last 6. Last 2 against the losing records of the Cards and the Giants. Imagine that.
Dallas lost against 2 winning teams of the Bills and Dolphins.

Nah, anyone with a brain who isn't a total in the tank homer like yourself knew exactly what he was saying. His point was that the Cowboys don't spend any real money in FA and sign any good to great FAs. Hundreds of posters have said the same thing.

The eagles aren’t smarter than anyone else including our cap boy

The difference is they actually want to win

They failed at linebacker. They got caught short. They failed.
They failed at more than just LB. It's bigger than that.

They failed at being even a mediocre postseason team for 25+ years.

Since nothing can be done about last year’s playoff failures, for any team, isn’t the important thing preparation for the coming season? The Chiefs and 49ers seem more concerned about personnel than the Cowboys do. You’re right. The Eagles went sideways last season. They’re not the bar in deference to how to run a successful NFL franchise, though, are they?

Thank you sir. You're my favorite eagles fan. It's not a long list, but I appreciate you nonetheless. Lol

No team should model themselves after another team. Though at times it is a copy cat league. But not how to run a team.

Stephen was once asked quite a while ago. That if they will draft a player to counter what the Eagles or another rival does.
He said they do not. They do not control what other teams do, nor sign a FA or draft a player to counter another teams move. A team can only look at what their situation is, and try to improve upon that. You don't got chasing what others do.

Good post!

The Chiefs goal is to win a third consecutive Super Bowl. It might be worth at least looking at how they run their franchise. Why would any team pattern themselves at how the Eagles run their operation? They do seem to be profoundly disappointed in how last season ended. I guess doing something is better than doing next to nothing.

Every team in the league does this...including the Cowboys. Every year we take money from this year and move it into future years. It works because the cap keeps going up. It also allows teams that are in "cap hell" to get out of it in a short period of time. You tank for a year or two and then have money for a new franchise and to sign some vets to make his life easier.
Yep and that's the difference which Jerry tries to avoid.... always trying to be relevant.

Sometimes the best move is no move, or in this case not moving to much.
Not one of us fans know how it will turn out. Even though many on here think they know.
Which it works both ways, for good or for bad.
