To alleviate another 1st round pick not playing that much, what if we parted ways with Terrance Steele, and keep Guyton as our RT where he played the position at in college. I realize that leaves a void at LT, but can we can by with a free agent pickup, or using one of the backup lineman? Please don't get all emotional about this post, I mean we're going "all in", so why not go "all in" with an OL shuffle idea???

We have a lot of depth, they mentioned Bass getting reps at center, we have Richards, Hoffman, Beebee etc!

New shuffle could consist of Richards/Weletzko (LT), LG( Smit/Beebee) Bass/Beebee (center) Martin (RG), RT (Guyton

What are your thoughts on this, probably unlikely to happen, but it's a thought!

You really want Dak dead, right?

Naw, that is valid as it points to both depth and physical talent. Anyone say good size across the board?

Why? Steele was coming off of a knee injury last year, he played well enough the previous year to warrant his starting position this year.

I don't see them moving on from Steele coming off his injury and just giving him a new contract extension..He was terrible last year but I think they believe he'll play better one year post injury

I think you have to take the gamble on Steele rebounded another year removed from injury. He showed signs last year on the back half of the season that he was trending the right direction. You lose a starter like that on the Oline and all of a sudden that depth we all love is looking pretty ordinary. The Cowboys have played their hand already for this year....I think they roll with the Oline they have in place now and reevaluate as you start playing some actual games. If Steele either isnt cutting it after 4-5 weeks and a guy like Richards has looked good all camp you can always make a move then, and if Richards and Steele both look good you could always flip one of them at the deadline for a pick or maybe even a position of need, like a new WR or DT.

Oh yeah I agree with what you all are saying. We all know players that come off an injury playing for Dallas need the year they come back, THEN the next season they're better/have full confidence in themselves

I think they should open up competition at every position and play the 5 best guys no matter who they are. No one played well enough last year to guarantee themselves a starting job on the offensive line, except Tyler Smith maybe.

If Brock Hoffman is better than Cooper Beebe, then play him. If Bass is better than Martin, then give Bass the job. I think Martin has another few years left in him, but at the end of the day the guy who does it better should be on the field.

I'm of the opinion that Guyton is not the starting LT to open up the season. It's going to be Tyler Smith.

You're trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Guyton can seamlessly transition from the RT to the LT position.

Leave it as it is now.
There is some depth so it seems. Which most likely will be needed at some point this season.

As solid as Martin has been in his career. We seen the past 2 years he has been dinged up more than he has been before. Like he was never banged up.

Steele improved as the season went along overcoming his injury. Let us see how he does which should be fine.

Can write-off a player after coming off of major knee surgery after a season. Steele was far better later in the season.

I mostly agree with you here, but seamlessly? I really like Guyton's outlook long term, but nothing about that kid screams a seamless transition, position change or not. I think we hit some serious potholes with him along the way, and if we don't we anticipate that we are setting the kid up for failure.

No, we need to get our young guys game experience. This is a throw away season and if Dak gets crunched then so be it. It isn't like we're going to advance very far in the playoffs even with him. At this point, he is expendable and if he gets crushed then TFB.

I totally agree, some have beebee already penciled in though my friend

I just feel they got him to give LT a try so they wouldn't have to move Tyler out to LT, they need to come up with something soon
