This is why I have said a successful season doesn't guarantee MM will return with a new contract. You can tell by the tone here, that he doesn't appreciate Jerry putting him and his family in this position. I can see him telling Jerry to shovel it if another offers a job ( Bucs, Bengals, Bills etc. ). Many fans are disappointed but his resume during his time here on the open market is pretty impressive.

I would love to see MM earn the offer for a new contract from Jerry and walk away. He'd get another HC offer somewhere in the league. But who does that?

I feel like this is going to cause us to have a bad season. More than the roster losing talent. I feel if Jerry wants to blow it up after this season then just do it now. If there is no plan to blow it up then make some changes to the contracts. In this thread I’m not advocating one way or the other but I’m concerned with the idea of “let’s see what happens in 2024 then make decisions “ is dysfunctional and can cause a toxic environment. That dysfunctional, high anxiety environment might tank 2024 for us even if our talent isn’t bad. If we start out slow this environment could derail the season IMO. I don’t feel our FO is being smart with not being transparent.

He'll be a free agent by game 8 when they're 3-5.

After that abysmal playoff performance, I can't see a single team blowing up MM's phone. He's going to have to set the league on fire this season to get anyone to notice him or make an offer.

He may not like it but he will 100% not tell Jerry to shove it if a new deal is offered. As much as I criticize the cowboys at times, they are still the cowboys, there are still huge perks to coaching them and if he’s offered a new deal it likely means he’s won 10-12 games again and at least made a divisional round.

It’s hard to leave a job where you have a good roster, a perennial playoff team and the notoriety of the cowboys, while Jerry is annoying- McCarthy knows what he’s getting from ownership and the building. Hard to leave that. He 100% I’m sure is pissed he’s on a year though but in the end he’ll gladly take an extension if offered a fair/good deal

Mike was brought here to do one thing: win in the playoffs. He hasn’t succeeded by that standard.

If you go back to the presser when he was hired, it was all about the roster being ready to win now, his SB experience, how he had learned from his year off and was the one to help get the team “over the hump” etc…

The playoff failures are even more damning when considering the defense finally was pulling its weight (at least in the reg season) and the NFC has been watered down in comparison to the talent level in the AFC

Results matter and Mike hasn’t delivered on the number one reason he was given the job: playoff success.

5 years is more than a fair opportunity to deliver the goods.

So.....they will hold ONE game against him huh? Not to mention w/o his regular season performance, we probably miss the playoffs. Like it or not he played the regular at a high level.
So how about his other playoff failures? Both of them. Those don’t count? Like it or not. They’re graded on their postseason performance and they’ve both been crap.

Are you saying we should stop following the NFL season after the January 5 game against the Commodes? All we should care about is the regular season, right?
Not at all....... highlighting one part of the season while ignoring the other coz it doesn't fit your agenda/smear.

The thing is, Jerry and son have been doing 1 year contract for a long time. Either with FA's (when they do sign them). As well as many players playing out their contract.
So what, we have MM on his last year of his contract as many coaches are all. And now some players.

The way fans are frustrated over the lack of playoff success, and want change. And this seems to be the plan, prove yourselves. I would think most should be happy that a huge possible change may occur in 2025.

Some want that, failure and change, others want success and will be ok with the status quo, with some changes.

This post couldn't be more spot on. Completely nailed it. Nice job!
