This is why I have said a successful season doesn't guarantee MM will return with a new contract. You can tell by the tone here, that he doesn't appreciate Jerry putting him and his family in this position. I can see him telling Jerry to shovel it if another offers a job ( Bucs, Bengals, Bills etc. ). Many fans are disappointed but his resume during his time here on the open market is pretty impressive.

Suck it up MM

It wouldn’t happen. What NFL coach has ever done that? Coaching the Cowboys is a dream job. McCarthy is lucky to still have it after the debacle in the playoffs and he knows it.
he should of been fired after that green bay game

A Front Office truly committed to winning a championship would have
A front office committed to winning would have fired him long before the Green Bay game. This front office is as cheap as they come. Paying a coach 5-10M for sitting on the coach for 1 or 2 seasons isn’t an option. They don’t care about winning. They care about padding the bank account. Pricks.

Of course no coach likes a one-year contract. If the coach gets fired, he doesn't get to collect on the guaranteed remaining years. Maybe he shouldn't have embarrassed himself against GB.

Nobody likes it...except Fat Mike. And Jason Garrett. Both of them HC frauds who were just thrilled to even have a HC gig, and with the Dallas Cowboys? Mike lied his way into this spot...although to be fair, Jerry probably sensed he was walkabout material regardless. Any real GM would have fired Mike immediately after the Green Bay embarrassment. Next up will be Zimmer, who will also be thrilled to be a HC again, and will happily acquiesce to Daddy&Son's requirements.

This, don’t care about any 12-5 season, when you get blasted at home in the PO where you are favored, he should have been shown the door. When that didn’t happen I knew then Jed wasn’t serious and going all in.

Guaranteed? Pretty sure that means he would be able to collect on remaining years.

I guess after 4 years we need to see one more from McCarthy to make a decision?

This “plan” is all about Jerry not wanting to pay 2 HCs at the same time. It’s a lame duck year. Even Zim is coming here on a one year deal. How often do you see a coordinator hired for one year?
100%... this is about Jerry and "His way" not whats best for the team..shocker...

If you happen to be a veteran free agent, I imagine a 1-year contract might look pretty doggone good.
If that one year is up and you haven't performed very well, then, ouch, you're back where you started. :omg:
It's all about one's perspective and how the future shapes up if you're worthy of better things or not , , ,:flagwave:

Obviously, a "bird in the hand" to MM looks much better than the specter of being canned at year's end, though! :omg:

Can't say as I blame him for that, though! He may or may not be blessed with a better deal than he has with the 'Boys.
