McCarthy: Nobody wants to be on a one-year contract

..can you blame Jerry in this situation??

I mean, C'mon. Just because you've had 3 regular winning seasons.

With the caliber of team they've had, should be no surprise.

When it counts is post season. MM has stunk up the joint.

Rather, we go 9-7 get into post season and make noise.

You can tell by the tone here, that he doesn't appreciate Jerry putting him and his family in this position.
What position? He might miss a payment on his multi million dollar house in Malibu? Things are tight kids, you're going to have to settle for the Porsche 911.

This is a long time ago, but something I always remembered. He won a SB with the Packers in 2010. I thought the team peaked in 2011 when they went 15-1. They didn't just lose to the 9-7 Giants at home, they looked like a different team. They didn't look prepared. Giants were 8 point dogs.

The pressures on the back of MM this year aren't such that any coach would be envious of -- it should prove challenging.

The thing is, Jerry and son have been doing 1 year contract for a long time. Either with FA's (when they do sign them). As well as many players playing out their contract.
So what, we have MM on his last year of his contract as many coaches are all. And now some players.

The way fans are frustrated over the lack of playoff success, and want change. And this seems to be the plan, prove yourselves. I would think most should be happy that a huge possible change may occur in 2025.

Some want that, failure and change, others want success and will be ok with the status quo, with some changes.
I guess after 4 years we need to see one more from McCarthy to make a decision?

This “plan” is all about Jerry not wanting to pay 2 HCs at the same time. It’s a lame duck year. Even Zim is coming here on a one year deal. How often do you see a coordinator hired for one year?

His words make it pretty clear.......at least from his perspective

Mike was brought here to do one thing: win in the playoffs. He hasn’t succeeded by that standard.

If you go back to the presser when he was hired, it was all about the roster being ready to win now, his SB experience, how he had learned from his year off and was the one to help get the team “over the hump” etc…

The playoff failures are even more damning when considering the defense finally was pulling its weight (at least in the reg season) and the NFC has been watered down in comparison to the talent level in the AFC

Results matter and Mike hasn’t delivered on the number one reason he was given the job: playoff success.

5 years is more than a fair opportunity to deliver the goods.
He also lied and said he watched "every snap" from the previous year...poppycock.

IMO, the writing is on the wall. Jerry is up against the wall salary wise. He decided to take this year as a reset year. He can easily place the blame on the coach and QB, let them walk and then start to build again with a new coach and QB without having to pay a coach to go away.

Sucks on one level to be Mike and Dak but on another, they are multi-multi-millionaires. They will be fine.

I think he just feels like he's being disrespected. He can't possibly have any real world worries. There's a big difference between people that write the checks, and those that cash them.

yes and it is ironic that the worst PO defeat was at the hands of GB his former team.
That showed the cowboys to be totally unprepared, and that is on the HC.

I think a new HC would be the thing to do, but who would the jones boys hire>?? Aside from BB, which would be interesting,
they might hire zimmer or some other goofball. Zimmer is a good DC , but he isnt a good HC.

After that abysmal playoff performance, I can't see a single team blowing up MM's phone. He's going to have to set the league on fire this season to get anyone to notice him or make an offer.
Back to the barn and figure out what lies to tell in his next interview.

If the Cowboys have a bad ending to this season, Belichick is our next head coach. The media attention that would come with that is exactly what Jerry wants. That is if they can come to terms with eachother.
