CFZ What kind of Browns team will we be facing?

Let’s see Bland out Diggs coming off injury and Amari Cooper circled the calendar. I’m hoping this is not Jordan Love playing catch in the backyard again ….

Cleveland should win.
They are at home have everyone but chubb.
They have 2 other good rb's # 27 in ps was looking good.
Watson seems to have his head on straight now.

Dallas
outdoors road game, on grass.
Many new players and rookies in 1st game. going to be mistakes.
We have the same coaches lol that gave us the GB fiasco !
Dak not happy. Lamb is just wanting to buy new clothes.
Elliot thinks it is 2016, so does coach jerry lol.

so if i was making a bet I would bet on cleveland.
But it is nfl 1st week, so anything can happen.

I have this game as a close loss then I can see the Cowboys winning the next 4 going 4-1 to open the season .

"Dude, It's the Browns!"

They still suck right?
They had the #1 ranked defense in the NFL last year and Miles Garrett was DPOY.

Their record at home last year.................8-1

They are very capable of beating Dallas, nobody should be chalking this game up as an easy W.

Edit...........forgot to mention that Cleveland stadium is outdoors on grass..........it has been well documented that playing on grass outdoors, Dallas almost always loses...........dont know why, but the numbers dont lie, Dallas sucks on grass outside. If I was a betting man, I would go with Cleveland, and it is not surprising they are actually favored week 1.

I think we'll limit their offense better than they should contain ours.

I tend to visualize us beating them by a somewhat narrow margin.

Although the Cleveland Browns defense was ranked #1 in yards allowed, they were ranked #13 in points allowed.

How does a team differ in defensive ranks to that degree? They prevent yards but allow scoring?

The answer lay in their offensive struggles, in particular, turnovers. The Browns offense was ranked #32 in INT's. If only both Bland and Diggs were completely healthy!

Their offense is also ranked #29 in fumbles lost.

In other words, the Browns offense has been no friend to their defense, often placing that defense in some very unenviable positions.

On 19 occasions last season, a Browns opponent started their drive in Browns territory as a result of a turnover. They scored 11 TD's and 4 FG's. There were 8 drives that started in the red zone.

My first look will be here, for how important this specific element projects and here and now.

As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for their Week 1 clash against the Cleveland Browns to kick off the 2024 NFL season, veteran guard Zack Martin is excited about what is ahead.

Amid swirling retirement rumors after this year, Martin remains laser-focused on the upcoming season, eager to prove that he still has plenty left in the tank.

Apparently, the Browns offensive line was battered injury wise last year and now are health with added depth. Obviously, Callahan is their coach.

It will be fascinating to see if our new defensive scheme is as capable of forcing turnovers as Quinn’s was. The Cowboys were 10-0 last year when scoring first and 2-6 when the opponent score first (including the playoff loss)

And the Cowboys were 1-5 last year when they did not get multiple TOs in a game. Will be interesting starting Sunday to see if this pattern continues in 2024.

Questionable QB'ing and run game. The Cowboys should have a field day. 35-10 Cowboys.

Also, that crowd is going to be LOUD. Opening Day with a 4:25 start. Plenty of time to get tuned up.

I expect that to cause about 3-5 false starts.

Not to mention the other penalties they inevitably commit. It’s a tough spot for Dallas.

Cleveland isn’t the best team on the schedule, but I don’t see a more difficult matchup. This one might be a little different if it were later into the season.

30 points isn’t the benchmark. I don’t need the Cowboys to score 30. It should take anywhere from 23 to 24 points to have a chance to win.

It does not to take elite QB play to beat the Browns. It also doesn’t take 30 points.

Trevor Lawrence had 3 interceptions and still won.
A chance to win is such a nebulous term. Your offense can score 3 points or your defense surrender 40 and you still have a “chance to win”.

Therefore trying to argue a defense isn’t great because the Steelers averaged 18 points against them is silly. At that point we are saying anything but a shutout is bad because you gave the opponent a chance to win.

I'm not arguing they are or aren't great. I didn't get to see many Browns games the only one I saw was the Texans playoff game.

My only argument is that they aren't beatable. You're making excuses for why they did this and why they did that. Teams have been able to rack up points on them.

Now as @Bobhaze pointed out that I did not realize was Browns were far better at home then on the road. That's a valid point that I can't argue against.

It’s also interesting to me how different the Cowboys seem to play on grass. The last two seasons, we were 2-9 on grass fields (including the playoff loss to SF in 2022)

The brownies play on grass.

You are looking at an established Cleveland Browns team. You are looking at a team that knows where it has to go and is on a road to get there. Organized but not the best in the league. Determined but still comes up short.

Dallas has chaos, a controlled chaos. A PR team that keeps the fans invested while doing a Grinch, thinking of a lie and thinking of it quick.

A QB who cant get them over the hump, an unlikey successful RB group, a new defense with a few really good players but an offense who cant find the endzone like people who cant find the Eiffel Tower. We know our kicker is one of the best on the team yet a QB who can beat bad teams but falters against good ones.

Thats the barebones of what you are looking at. This will not come down to the players, but the coaches who make better use of their team. We already know our offensive line will NOT be at its best. Our defense wont be at its best and our kicking team is solid at its very best.

The talk is over, the feel good times are over, everyone who thinks they know anything is just going to talk talk while the teams sort out the facts.

Our offense really needs to give us at least 20-24 points. The brownies D only averaged giving up 14 at home last year. The one loss they had at home was to the ravens who scored 28.

There are few things in life more overrated than the Browns' defense.

Like Philly in 2022 (and most defenses, really) they benefitted from playing against bad offenses all year. Have people forgotten how bad they were to end last year?

The kind of team that will beat Dallas if Dallas overlooks them. Cleveland is an underrated team with a good defense.
