Let’s see Bland out Diggs coming off injury and Amari Cooper circled the calendar. I’m hoping this is not Jordan Love playing catch in the backyard again ….
Cleveland should win.
They are at home have everyone but chubb.
They have 2 other good rb's # 27 in ps was looking good.
Watson seems to have his head on straight now.
Dallas
outdoors road game, on grass.
Many new players and rookies in 1st game. going to be mistakes.
We have the same coaches lol that gave us the GB fiasco !
Dak not happy. Lamb is just wanting to buy new clothes.
Elliot thinks it is 2016, so does coach jerry lol.
so if i was making a bet I would bet on cleveland.
But it is nfl 1st week, so anything can happen.
They had the #1 ranked defense in the NFL last year and Miles Garrett was DPOY."Dude, It's the Browns!"
They still suck right?
My first look will be here, for how important this specific element projects and here and now.I think we'll limit their offense better than they should contain ours.
I tend to visualize us beating them by a somewhat narrow margin.
It will be fascinating to see if our new defensive scheme is as capable of forcing turnovers as Quinn’s was. The Cowboys were 10-0 last year when scoring first and 2-6 when the opponent score first (including the playoff loss)Although the Cleveland Browns defense was ranked #1 in yards allowed, they were ranked #13 in points allowed.
How does a team differ in defensive ranks to that degree? They prevent yards but allow scoring?
The answer lay in their offensive struggles, in particular, turnovers. The Browns offense was ranked #32 in INT's. If only both Bland and Diggs were completely healthy!
Their offense is also ranked #29 in fumbles lost.
In other words, the Browns offense has been no friend to their defense, often placing that defense in some very unenviable positions.
On 19 occasions last season, a Browns opponent started their drive in Browns territory as a result of a turnover. They scored 11 TD's and 4 FG's. There were 8 drives that started in the red zone.
Also, that crowd is going to be LOUD. Opening Day with a 4:25 start. Plenty of time to get tuned up.They had the #1 ranked defense in the NFL last year and Miles Garrett was DPOY.
Their record at home last year.................8-1
They are very capable of beating Dallas, nobody should be chalking this game up as an easy W.
Edit...........forgot to mention that Cleveland stadium is outdoors on grass..........it has been well documented that playing on grass outdoors, Dallas almost always loses...........dont know why, but the numbers dont lie, Dallas sucks on grass outside. If I was a betting man, I would go with Cleveland, and it is not surprising they are actually favored week 1.
A chance to win is such a nebulous term. Your offense can score 3 points or your defense surrender 40 and you still have a “chance to win”.30 points isn’t the benchmark. I don’t need the Cowboys to score 30. It should take anywhere from 23 to 24 points to have a chance to win.
It does not to take elite QB play to beat the Browns. It also doesn’t take 30 points.
Trevor Lawrence had 3 interceptions and still won.
I'm not arguing they are or aren't great. I didn't get to see many Browns games the only one I saw was the Texans playoff game.A chance to win is such a nebulous term. Your offense can score 3 points or your defense surrender 40 and you still have a “chance to win”.
Therefore trying to argue a defense isn’t great because the Steelers averaged 18 points against them is silly. At that point we are saying anything but a shutout is bad because you gave the opponent a chance to win.
Our offense really needs to give us at least 20-24 points. The brownies D only averaged giving up 14 at home last year. The one loss they had at home was to the ravens who scored 28.I'm not arguing they are or aren't great. I didn't get to see many Browns games the only one I saw was the Texans playoff game.
My only argument is that they aren't beatable. You're making excuses for why they did this and why they did that. Teams have been able to rack up points on them.
Now as @Bobhaze pointed out that I did not realize was Browns were far better at home then on the road. That's a valid point that I can't argue against.
