Why would a team trade for a 3rd string quarterback that will be a free agent next offseason? What type of draft choice are you talking about? The Cowboys are on the hook for 5 million no matter if he is traded or not.

If Lance was perfect this preseason, Dak would have still received the same contract. Only a fool would judge a player on preseason games. Dak was always going to be a Cowboy. The Cowboys got Lance because they wanted a developmental quarterback with tools. A 4th round flyer made it worth it. You guys act like that 4th round pick would have been the next Dak or something.
Lance is raw but his athleticism and traits will always pique interest. I am not saying we would get a ton in a trade, but anything is better than nothing — maybe there is a team open to a trade acquisition that would be willing to part with a conditional pick should he pan out?

I don’t think he monumentally failed. He certainly flashed as a runner at different points, and his traits alone will get him some looks.
Nothing about him will pique interest at this point. There will be no market for him as a free agent to get ahead of. Players in their fourth year who can’t even secure a backup job don’t get people excited about their potential. That ship has sailed.

I think part of the reason Dak got his new contract yesterday was in due to how poorly Lance played in the preseason. The last game with 5 INTs was the last straw. The Cowboys didn't see a QB they could confidently hand the ball to in 2025. He has no trade value.
He was up for trade and only the Cowboys and Bills were interested in giving up anything more than a fourth round pick for him. If anything his stock went down during preseason. He has little to no trade value unless we would be willing to accept a 7th rounder for him if we could even get that.

My point is you have both. Rush has no arm strength. At least Lance can run. With this defense you can win with a Rush/Lance combination. Hopefully we won’t find out.
