Boys restructure Steele contract saving 4.5 million

Next season they have to contend with Micah Parsons contract.

I will take him over any group of worn out, slowed down veteran free agents.

The addition of Eric Kendricks and his All Pro performance so far this season should be more than anyone could hope for in veteran free agency.

There must be some sort of restriction on what can be rolled over.

Anyone know the actual rules?

Why is restructuring to rollover a better move than just leaving it as is?

He's more likely right. They are likely going to just roll it over to cover the next batch of contracts they sign for players already on their roster.

It certainly won't be to add outside NFL talent to get better.
Wouldn't be the worse thing

The Jones can always do and re-do, restructure existing contracts, ..Steele, Diggs, Martin, ..they could even re-do Dak & Lamb
down the road.

We're not as tight hard up stuck with the cap, as the Jones may like to suggest.
It can be done, several NFL teams are doing it as well.

Question is what important use will the Jones make of the cap room created...

You can rollover 100% of what is under the cap. The issue is you have to spend something like 90% of the cap so the max is something like 10% of the salary cap so about $25M. It’s my guess also they are just looking to rollover as close to $25M as they can. So if they get to $25M they won’t redo anymore contacts.
