Dak is a mental choker!

Do you...do you think you just discovered this or something? Look at you. Tryin to fit in. What's next, you gonna point out he played the worst pass defense schedule in the league the year he got his first all pro bid?

"Hey guys, I'm just like you now!"

Sad.
We been posting that face for a couple years now....and he's ridiculed us every time. Now he posts it like he's some kind cutting edge hero.

Something odd is afoot. Admittedly daks 9er game was epically bad. But if ac is on the level....this is what it took? Odd.

There is no value in resigning our QB. A complete mismanagement .

And our 5th ranked 2023 scoring defense would have appeared to be enough. Injuries aren’t an excuse but they are a factor.

Not addressing RB in draft was another huge mismanagement.

A team which is already limited by the initial poor decision isn’t allowed to continue making other poor decisions along with trying to overcome key injuries.
None of than absolves Dak's involvement in being a part of the (Jerry) problem. Dak, the contract and his weaknesses are linked to Jerry and his inability to run a franchise.

It was mismanaged 4 and 5 years ago as well.

Unfortunately that’s part of the gig here in Dallas. Is trying to overcome poor ownership. And Jethro isn’t going anywhere.

So now once we accept our handicaps how do we build around best we can with means we have .
Build the team, not around overflated 'elite' contracts for players who never play up to that contract. Just look at the 2016 roster, with a league minimum QB.

Anyone who expected Prescott to play near his contract were delusional . And it would have disqualified most GM’s . But here we are.

Again, once we acknowledge or accept the mishaps how do we attempt to prop or shore it up?

"Jerry; can we draft a quarterback higher than the 4th round more than once a quarter century?"
You may wish to re-word that wish and include more specific language.

Jerry Jones drafted Quincy Carter in the second round.

Perhaps something more like, "Jerry. Hire a GM to oversee drafting a high round quarterback. Let someone else make the final decision. Someone who makes informed decisions and not go with his Mad Genius gut."

Then our ownership has completely mismanaged if our QB is dependent on a stronger rushing game and more offensive weapons.

And just to be clear while 90 million is their average yearly contracts they aren’t the actual cap hits. There was enough cap space and draft capital to pursue some supporting cast. They just chose not to.
We have $21 million in cap space right now. We freed up $14 million of that when we signed Dak in September and $10 million when we signed CD at the end of August. We also got $10 million on June 1st with the Gallup cut that was not available before that day (obviously we used some cap space to sign draft picks and a group of nobody's from the UFL and NFL castoffs). Now, you can say they should have signed those two sooner (like before free agency) to free up cap space, and you would be 100% correct. However, with those two on their original contracts during free agency, there really wasn't cap space.

Not backing the Jones', this offseason was an abomination and this simple fact that they waited as long as they did to sign those two was clearly a sign of house bad we are mismanaged. With that I completely agree with your first sentance.

And his Rookie contract is a great example . This FO wasn’t able to take advantage of it along with Zekes rookie contract.

The core issue is very glaring for me. It didn’t just begin with #4. It’s been going on for almost 30 years. And I don’t have much hope moving forward.

But I still want to try and prop it up best we can. Complaining about #1 bad decision without taking efforts to prop it up is a waste of time for me .

Drafting Quincy in the 2nd round fits my quote which was " can we draft a qb higher than 4th MORE than once in a quarter century"

I'm aware that we did it once in 25 years.....I was asking for MORE than once

Right. Afterall Jethro had his sights on Manziel and Lynch in 1st round.

We definitely should be at least trying though regardless if we have any faith in decisions.

Yes. You are correct. You are correct that Jerry Jones drafted that 'once in a quarter century' quarterback. What are your expectations in a future, hypothetical first-round or second-round quarterback drafted by Jerry Jones?

It is literally true some observers do not take Jones' GM track record into account when making comments about what he should do.

Can he play to half of his contract?

Right. More draft capital should be invested in the most valuable position on the team more often. However, faith is questionable based on what has already been established in the past.

Do you think it's easy to find a perennial top 10 quarterback who became an All Pro and an MVP candidate who had three straight seasons winning twelve games and a good career winning percentage as a starter?

Again.... we all know Dak isn't elite.

But give me the names of the perennial top 10, All Pro, MVP candidate quarterbacks that teams just let walk without a backup solution to replace him? Who are they? What are their names?

These are narrow defined limits you are putting in to try to make the point that no team would move on from a QB like Dak. Better teams have moved on from better QBs. Russell Wilson got traded during his prime (after an injured season where he didn’t perform as well as he had). His career backup replacement has given the team pretty mediocre results (though I think Geno has been pretty good). Geno and the results did get Pete Carroll fired though. You don’t have to hold on to a guy till the wheels fall off to then find a suitable replacement. The Cowboys did not plan ahead sufficiently, but it still does not mean they had to sign him. Just see how the season ends, and give him the huge contract if he played really well.

I no longer have realistic expectations when it comes to our GM.

I only have a wish list that mirrors what teams like the Lions and Packers GMs have done.....draft or buy starting quality lineman, first and foremost, and draft a high caliber QB BEFORE you need one and develop him.

Ben Dennuci isn't cutting it

But expectations for your $60m QB is greater than one on the Rookie deal. You keep going back to Jerry's mismanagement as an excuse for Dak.
Dak, compounded matters by insisting on a 4 year contracts.

I can understand why AC decided enough is enough. It took me quite a while to get to that point myself. He used to be the kind of guy you really want to be the man.

It finally dawned on me that Dak isn't the same guy he was when he played on his rookie deal. I think he decided to quit running as a business decision to prolong his career. The intensity and desire to do everything it takes to win just ain't there anymore. He's become all about the money.

I understand. The difference though....is that you never attacked other good fans for their opinion on it. AC was brutal to people...and now here he is suddenly and it's okay? Can't blame anyone for being cautious about it.

Appreciate your courteous reply.

He got on to me a time or two. I can see where the change is really curious. He's one of the last folks I thought would change his view of Dak.
