Mike Fisher made a good point of the Cowboys not doing 2nd contract, but retooling, after their rookie deal is up, and get more players. Maybe you even trade them before their rookie deal is up.. Doesn't sound like a bad idea, probably not the most realistic, but we love to keep our drafted guys and pay them accordingly. To avoid these big deals, why not do this?? Please give your thoughts

Yeah but you can’t do that with everyone, just have to make the right choices and they haven’t.

It’s also about recognizing that the system is set up so that an open window to win isn’t long, so when you do get the right mix of players it won’t last so you need to be at least a little aggressive to get over the top. Maybe you don’t win it all but you give yourself a shot. These two don’t seem to get that part of things and seem to want to just be a contender every year and avoid bad seasons.

More than ever I truly believe that Stephen is the one running things and just isn’t good enough, and/or is simply only concerned with the bottom line.

There’s no way in the world anyone can have the thought that he is hell bent on winning. Just no way.

Tyler Smith Jake Ferguson Overshown lets hopefully see the old Bland after injury Parsons ….Beebe & hopefully Guyton keep developing . I see Tolbert developing into a reliable outlet . I mean you can’t make a blanket statement “ don’t offer second contracts “ that’s Fisher , he squawks for clicks .

Look no further than Philly . Lane Johnson Jason Kelce Davonta Smith Dallas Goedert Brandon Graham Fletcher Cox Landon Dickerson among others who have spent entire careers as Eagles who contend yearly . If you never second contract guys heck your constantly rebuilding

Multiple Super Stars is not the recipe to winning a SB.

If you had a 5 star rating with 4 5's and the rest 1 and 2 stars that is not going to get it done.

You need a Bell Curve roster, not an inverted Bell Curve.

FA contracts are often over inflated and you’re not getting what you thought you might be getting .

Think the Giants who’s offense is worst then anything may have second thoughts as Barkley ran over them like roadkill and gives the Eagles a home run threat .

It’s funny though I see a different Barkley in Philly . He’s become a much more physical runner now that he actually has an offensive line to open holes .

If you have no intention of resigning a talented player, then trade them.

Jerry is in love with Comp Picks for some reason. A comp pick comes a year after they left your team, which makes a late 3rd(basically an early 4th), a late 4th or basically an early 5th.

So at best in reality you get an early 5th round value in return.

Someone needs to educate Jerry that comp picks are not going to get us to the promise land.

No you’re right I seem to remember Jerry getting a bundle of 6th round comp picks who never see the field .

Outside of QB, LT and maybe LDE I would say no, start trading in year 3 and gain more draft capital and repeat drafting.

It still surprises me that no team in the NFL has started trying the approach of simply trading out players at year 3 or 4 and just continuing to stack draft picks.

Also, trading out of the 1st to pick up am additional pick each year....all you have to do, is do it one time so you have an extra 1st the next year then just keep trading the extra 1st for more future capital.

Yes I know it's theoretical but still facinatinf

1st contracts are for the owners.

2nd is for the players.

most players never get a 2nd.

No ....... someone else just needs to decide who gets second contracts.

Jerry and Son are just bad at it.
