Jim Fassel - this team is going to the playoffs

Did Fassel reveal which team plans on losing three of the next four games in order to make room for the Cowboys in the playoffs?

In the past, it has been the Cowboys making room for Washington and the Eagles.

In 2011 the Giants won the division with a 9-7 record before winning the SB that season. It was the Cowboys who moved out of the way to make room in the playoffs for the Giants that season.

The Cowboys lost three of the last four games in 2011, two to the Giants. If the Cowboys had won just one of those games, they would be the division winner, and the Giants eliminated.

In 2012 the Washington Whatevers were 3-6 after 9 games. They went on a seven-game winning streak and ended up 10-6.

They eliminated the Cowboys from the playoffs by beating them twice, including the last game of the season which was basically for the division title.

In 2013 the Eagles started out 3-5 before winning 7 of their last 8 games, including the last game which was against the Cowboys.

The Cowboys were 8-7, the Eagles were 9-6. The Eagles won 24-22, eliminating the Cowboys from the playoffs.

We would have to win out, and that is not likely. We would need some help from other teams even if we did somehow win out. Our chance is non-zero, but very slim.

Very possible at 9-8 (1 loss).

Now 9-8...that's stretching optimism a bit.

I'll start considering it if and when they get back to .500.

and we are a lousy team by the record
just ONE win at home; and all the losses were blowouts
homerism is a mental disease
“Homerism is a mental disease”

Do you listen to yourself? It’s football, not even that important in the grand scheme of things.

If only it were that easy.
You have four division winners who are in.
Now you have Minnesota with ten wins, Green Bay with 9, and Washington with 8.

Green Bay or Washington have to lose out while Dallas wins out for the Cowboys to get in.

If Green Bay wins 2 they are in. (They don't have to but 11 is a number the Cowboys can't reach.)
Washington wins 3 they are in. Again 11 is a number the Cowboys can't match. But Dallas and Washington have a rematch in a couple of weeks. See where we are then.

At the moment, the Cowboys don't have much say in their fate, a lot of things have to go wrong for a few other teams before we control of our destiny.
