*** He's a free agent
***Would you resign him? This means we are unlikely to use a high pick on RB ( 5th round max IMO)
*** How much? $4-6M or 9-10M
*** Let him walk and draft a new starter ( Jeanty )

Keep money is going to be tight according to Stephen
It's crazy how every time one of our players starts playing at a high level.......the question becomes will we keep him? Wonder if other teams go through this also.

If the Cowboys were to sign Dowdle to an extension, it wouldn’t break the bank. Devin Singletary, a similar runner production-wise to Dowdle, signed a three-year, $16.5M deal with the New York Giants last offseason. Dallas could likely lock up Dowdle with a similar type of offer only costing them $5-6M a year

Let him walk, or at least see what his offers are, then match it, if not too high.
But Jerry will go full Pollard and pay him $10 million.

They need to clean house at RB, draft 1, or even 2, with all the picks they have. Sign a FA as well. then a few UDFA's.

He has played much better lately, but I can't trust another injury won't happen.
Then there are those that will say, fix the OL even morsel than it has been playing better lately. The RB will be fixed. I understand and agree with that to a point.
Still need a stud RB regardless.

I wish I could go back a couple months and give a new answer to those 'should we extend Rico now on the cheap' threads. I think he might be running his way out of Dallas at this rate, and is going to be closer to that $10M mark than we think.

I WOULD CAUTION on giving him a new deal, the main thing with Rico was his injury history. Magically in contract year he plays all the games, and does well, you pay him, I'm pretty sure the thought of PLAYING comes 2nd to if he gets an injury!!

RB1 in 2025. So this becomes one less "need" entering the draft. What is really mind-blowing to me is how much success he had after the line changes we made (losing Martin)

he's been a pleasant surprise, but i'd let him walk. main focus is Osa. grab another back in the draft and keep it pushing unless he's coming incredibly cheap.

Yup I fully agree. I wouldn't mind a cheap deal like 3yr 10mm with incentives to get it higher but this year has again proven you can easily find rbs in the draft. Why pay a rb unless it's a premier proven back and your team is at a point to win now (eg Henry, Barkley)? It's ridiculous but JJ is known for his stance of "we like our guys" so who knows. Should definitely offer this deal to Rico after the Philly game if they are going to give him one. So many other positions to fill and Osa and Parsons contracts are looming

He’s running a lot because you can’t throw. Plus there’s a bias toward the fact you drafted him.

Ask yourself this: if he were doing this on the Las Vegas Raiders, would you jump into FA to pull him away for 10m$ a year?

Not saying he isn’t playing well, but you should be drafting a guy and picking up a cheap guy in FA. If Dowdle will come back into that stable for a few million a year, best case scenario

How they thought Zeke was even remotely as good as Rico is scary. Zeke should not even be in the league let alone robbing and wasting carries.
5 carries a game? Is "robbing"? You gotta spell rb1, and pretty sure he's on league minimum.

True. But will Jerry and Stephen ask themselves that question. And if they do, would they be honest about it. Probably not.

yes sir!!!!!!

Sign him at a good price if possible and focus on the O and D lines in the draft. Maybe pick up another back not named Zeke later in the draft or in free agency.

I haven't kept track how he's done against the better teams. He did have a career best against the lowly Panthers which isn't saying much. Personally, if the Boys end up getting in the TOP TEN in the draft, our lousy GM needs to look at drafting a RB, if there is a game changing one available. As for resigning Dowdle, it has to be a team friendly signing or no go.................
